- I ordered the Docketport solely for scanning all my receipts. Received it fast and installed the software first and perform the mandatory calibration, per the instructions. It was so nice to plug the Docketport into my monitor and scan my first receipt so quickly. It went in easily and looked great on the screen. I really love the fact the PDF files were small, as opposed to my Lexmark all-in-one, which I use to scan everything else, but creates larger PDF files.
It does take a few tries on longer receipts to keep it straight, but once that's perfected, it scans wonderfully. The Docketport does a little 'pre-grab' to hold the receipt while you press the Scan button on the screen. The software allows you to scan in B/W, greyscale, and color. Can even scan photos. Scans different lengths: min - Business card (3.5" x 2.2") to max - Legal (8.5" x 14"). Also, shows a screen that you can customize to fit your item, like my receipts, by moving the height and width manually. Comes with a nice case that holds the scanner and even managed to put the USB cable that comes with it, in there also.
The only drawback I see is that it only scans to a length of legal sized documents. This means I just scan my Circuit City receipts twice - first, the beginning fo the receipt, then the end of the receipt, which creates a two page file. Oh well, I'm not gonna downstar it because the images are great and it's doing exactly what I wanted.
- I got this scanner to have a small footprint for my portable office. It really does what is says. Easy archiving of all documents no larger than legal.
- Great Convenient Product For Travelers!
- I travel 2 months a year in my Motor Coach and I need to stay in touch with my Clients and Office. This small scanner works wonderful, takes up little to no space and offers great quality. I have never scanned photos, but for simple black and white projects it was the perfect answer for me.
- Purchased and have been using this scanner for about a month. What a great tool this has been to get all of my various paperwork into order. For the couple of reviews that complain about this scanner, this is for scanning paperwork, not photos of Grandma. The feeder works well, it occasionally slips but not often. Scans are very crisp.
The scanner itself is very small and doesn't need a power cord which is awesome.
The enclosed software is remarkably good: it's small, easy to use, and does the one job you want it to (make scans) and doesn't try and be some grand organizer for everything. Best of all the software automatically creates everything in PDF format.
Highly recommended.
- Powerful, Easy to Use, Compact Scanner - Great Product!
- I recently purchased the Docketport 465 scanner from Amazon. I bought it simply for it's size as I had little space left in computer travel case, but I definitely needed a scanner to round out my portable office. To finalize my selecting the Docketport 465, the reviews were good on Amazon (I don't buy *anything* that does not have good reviews on Amazon) and the price was right.
Just so happens I got the Docketport just 2 days prior to a business trip out to the DC area. While there we received an unexpected offer for a house we had for sale. We received the offer on our email at the hotel we were staying at. I printed off all 20+ pages, then my wife/I initialed all the pages and signed the offer, and then used Adobe Acrobat with the Docketport to scan all 20+ pages right back in to a PDF file and emailed it back.
When I bought the Docketport I didn't know that it was fully integrated with Adobe Acrobat, but I can tell you that it worked flawlessly for what I think to be a fairly good exercise of it capabilities. Another very nice feature is the automatic paper feed when scanning multi-page documents. That feature makes it very, very simple to use because you don't have to keep responding to dialog boxes over-and-over telling it "yes, scan another page." You simply put in the next page to scan and it knows you want to do another one. Very, very, nice feature!
The other obvious part, while I wasn't scanning pictures, I can tell you that it did a very nice job of scanning in the 20+ pages of offer for our house. Last little "nice feature", it gets its power off of the USB cable. Lord knows I did not need to carry yet another power cable in my computer bag! Great feature!
So, from the business traveler's perspective, the Docketport 465 gets a rock-solid 5 stars from me. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a solid performing, compact, efficient, easy to use, scanner that takes up very little space in a computer travel bag.
- This is an excellent USB powered sheet feed scanner. I purchased it to use with Reciept wallet and Document wallet on the Mac. The mac driver can by downloaded from sysviewtech.com. It was easy to follow the directions to install the driver software. Scanning documents and receipts into these applications has been so simple even I can do it. The scan speed is fast. Whether for home or office use, scanning paper with the docketport is fast and easy and makes it easy to convert paper into pdf files. Great for genealogists to scan original documents for reference, moms to scan recipes or magazine articles, lawyers to scan legal documents, I could go on with all kinds of uses. Excellent buy for the price.
- Perfect for what we needed
- Simple, easy to use, compact and good quality scans.
Training non technical staff how to use it was a breeze. They shouldn't have any problem using it. We're using the same model in multiple facilities around the country.
- Saves the scans to PDF file !
- Easy to use. Easy to email scans as attachments.
- Despite the system requirements saying that this is not Mac compatible, I've found that it is the best Mac scanner I've owned. Drivers for both Intel and PowerPC Macs are available from the manufacturers website and it is extremely easy to use. While it may not come with fancy software for the Mac, it is more Mac like than anything else on the market.

- No Mac OS X PDF software included.
- This scanner does not work with Mac OS X. I down loaded the Mac OS X drivers. You can scan to Jpeg and Tiff. The results are hard to read. I called the company about the save to PDF software. They told me they do not have this software for Mac OS X. They said that I would need to by Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 if I wanted to save to PDF. They also said that the one step button on the top of the scanner to scan to PDF will not work in Mac OS X. One other problem is that it has no auto crop software so any small document is scanned and the rest of the page is black. I have sent this scanner back.

- Small, light and twain compliant.
- I really like this little scanner. It's small and lightweight. Also, no need to carry a power supply because it draws power from the USB port. Perfect for traveling.
However, this is NOT a "stay at home" scanner replacement. If you don't plan on traveling with a scanner, this is not for you. It is sometimes difficult to feed and sometimes the item being scanned shifts and causes the scan to be cockeyed.
If you need a desktop scanner, get one with a feeder and can scan both sides at the same time.
This is a true travel scanner. What's very nice is that it's TWAIN compliant. Sometimes that's tough to find at this price point. If you don't know what TWAIN means, just know that's what you want for ease of use and compatibility with 99% of all programs that can use a scanner.
I took 1 star away from this scanner because of the feed issue (4/5). I would buy this scanner again.
