- I purchased this convection oven for my Mother, who is 83 and her oven in her apartment had quit working. She loves it. She enjoys baking so much and she found this oven to be so user friendly and large enough for the cooking utensils that she has. I doubt that she will ever use the rotissery part, but she has it if she decides that wants to use it.
- I purchesed this oven for baking. Trying to find a covection oven big enough to hold two 9" cake rounds or even worse three 8" cake rounds is a difficult task, unless of course you're willing to spend well over $500.
The Haier RTC1700SS fit the size requirement and the budget. My only concern was what kind of quality would I get. I gambled only because I was buying from Amazon and knew that if it wasn't right I could easily return it.
Well the oven arrived and I'm a happy baker. The apprearance is professional, all racks and pans are stout and this boy is BIG. I've got all kinds of room.
I'm very picky about oven temperatures, so I always keep a thermometer in an oven. I've never had an oven that wasn't off by at least 25 degrees. So imagine my surprise when I began using this oven and the first time I used it, the thermometer matched the setting on the analog dial. It's been that what every time.
The oven is quieter than my microwave, and the all stainless interior is easy to clean. The only caution I will give you is to practice with it first if you're going to do any baking. You are going to have to adjust baking times and temperatures a bit, even though the owner's manual says you won't.
Bottom line is that I would buy it again, and even at twice the price I'd still think it was a good value.
Gotta go, cakes ready!
- This is my third convection oven I swear by the way convection cooking makes your food taste as well as the quickness in preparation. Our first convection oven was a farberware oven which lasted us for 18 years. We were less lucky with the second one purchased from HSN that one was returned to the factory which took almost 6 month's to replace it. So far so good on this one.
- Amazing Appliance - Get yourself one
- My wife wanted a convection oven because she was sick of uneven baking in her old range oven. I agreed, but neither of us wanted to spend the big bucks for a new range with a convection oven.
She's a retired home economics teacher, so her demands are stringent. The oven we bought would have to replace the one in the old range. We settled on the 1700ss. It has as much real usable space as the old stove oven, since the standard 1/2 size cake pans hang edge-to-edge on the sides of the oven cavity. And it bakes perfectly evenly. As a bonus it uses only about half the
electricity. We haven't used the old oven in a year and a half, and the Haier is still like new.
Like anything else, the appliance will give you service commensurate with the care you give it. It is miles above the other little convection ovens offered in many stores, which are only a little over 1/3 this size and have a plain piece of glass for the door. This one has a solid double-wall construction throughout, including the door, all stainless steel, and I don't see anything cheap about it, if you look at it as a home appliance. Of course you could spend $1000 or more on a high-end commercial brand and it would be a little heavier, but for home use, with reasonable care, it is more than adequate.
We bought ours from Amazon with free shipping. The first one that arrived had a loose motor cooling fan. I could have fixed it, but Amazon wanted to send me a new one, which arrived a week later. It was perfect, and we couldn't be more satisfied, with Amazon and with Haier.
- This oven works well but has only single pane glass in door also it has very little insulation and the eletronics and dial seem much to cheap for this product I think I would try the costco product next time still I like the oven
- I HAD MY OVEN NOW GOING ON 2 YEARS. ONE LITTLE PROBLEM WITH DOOR HARD TO CLOSE. I SIMPLY SPRAYED A LITTLE WD40 ON THE MOVING PIECE THAT MAKES DOOR STAY SHUT AND I WAS ALL SET .
SORRY TO HEAR 2 OTHERS HAVE HAD PROBLEMS , MAYBE THEY SHOULD GO OUT TO EAT INSTEAD OF TRYING TO COOK ! LAMB ON THE ROTISSERE IS AWESOME. DONE TURKEY , CORNISH HENS , RIBS AND SO MUCH MORE .
OVEN IS NOT TRU COMMERCIAL QUALITY CONVECTION OVEN BUT IT ALSO SELLS FOR MINIMUM HALF THE PRICE OF A REAL 1.5 CUBIC COMMERCIAL OVEN.
IF YOU BUY A VOLKS BUG EXPECTING A ROLLS RIDE YOU GOT ANOTHER THING COMING TO YOU. BUT A VOLKS WILL STILL GET YOU THERE JUST MAYBE A LITTLE SLOWER.

- Works well but delivered damaged
- Delivered with a damaged tray. Replacement seems unavailable and thus far required 40 minutes on hold with customer service. Customer service is non existent and product is too expensive for no service.
- I bought a Haier RTC1700SS oven from Amazon about a month ago. I am still waiting for a replacement from Haier because the trays & spit did not fit.
I hope by this summer I will know what it's like to cook on a con- vection oven. I'll let you know if I ever get a chance to use the one I've already paid for.
- This Oven is Junk - Good luck getting service
- I bought a Haier convection oven and it broke after only a few months. I called their customer service department and they said they would send me a new one. I have waited 2 months and made 17 phone calls and still nothing. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. Their products are cheap chinese junk and they DO NOT stand behind their products. Don't believe me? Look around on the web and you will see plenty of other people complaining about their cheap products and ZERO customer support.
- More problems than pluses
- I bought one and the plate that diffused the air was off center so it baked unevenly. I called and was told it was a defect and would do a warranty exchange. I was under the impression they would send it out but when I called, I was told I was supposed to send in $14.95 for shipping or I could give them a charge card and they would charge it again to ship out a new one and credit when I returned it. The new unit I received has had problems with the digital timer displaying the timer but rather than to have a short so rat her than do the return thing again I just used a manual timer. It baked a bit more evenly and was fast but still needed to rotate pans. I just recently had a power spike that took out all electronics plugged in, including the oven but I doubt I will reorder this product. Too unpredictible.
- Workmanship leaves much to be desired
- The first time I tried this oven the heating elements would not get hot enough so I sent it back (it cost me 14.95 to have Haier send me another one). I just tried the new one and the door does not shut properly. To make a long story short, I wish I had never ordered this brand oven.
