- This monitor is basic, simple, and does exactly what it's supposed to do without the hassle of the chest strap. One great thing about using a monitor like this is that you sort of get "trained" to a certain extent to feel when you are above or below your target zone. Before long you can pretty much feel where you're at before looking at it. That's just another level of body awareness that's a good thing. There is one advantage of the other kind that has a chest strap, and that is you get a constant readout of your heart rate. With this type you have to put your fingers on the "watch" for a couple of seconds to get a reading. On the other hand, this one will not pick up false readings from another nearby monitor, like in a health club setting.
- Wish it had a stainless braclet
- I have been wearing a Rolex for the past thirty years, but now as a heart patient often need to check my heart rate quickly during strenous activity but without a chest strap.
The digits are large. This is helpful as my 50+ year old eyes are no longer 20/20.
The monitor requires one be relatively still for 3-6 seconds, but it is accurate and reliable so far (several weeks since I bought it).
One extra benefit it has that I am finding useful while grilling etc. is that it has a countdown timer.
I love my Rolex. This I don't love, but it serves a purpose and it works.
- Bought the thing for my wife, but needed it to check morning resting heart rate, and have been using it ever since. Does not provide continuous reading the way the chest strap models do. And, when on the treadmill, it can be a little bit of a pain to check the heart rate while running. Finally, it takes a few seconds to respond. On the other hand, it is otherwise quite convenient and the absence of the chest strap is a major plus. For anyone who is just monitoring the heart rate whether in the morning or during a workout, this if an easy and convenient instrument. No bells and whistles, but it does what it is supposed to do.

- I bought this heart rate monitor and recommended it for my brother in law who also bought the same model. In less than 6 weeks, each stopped working.
