- I love this Mixer SO much!!
- I love this Mixer so much, that after my first one broke ( which I had for 10 years), I went out and bought a new one. It didn't even break really, just a couple of speeds stopped working. Nevertheless, it's a hearty, strong, durable piece of kitchen ware that my kitchen gets lonely without! It cleans easily, it mixes great, it's great for all your baking and/or applicable cooking needs! love it love it love it!!!!
- The best mixer available!
- I can't say enough about how much I love my KitchenAid mixer. After purchasing several of the other brands of stand mixers thinking I could save money and have the same thing..........I finally opened my eyes to realize that they were JUNK!
The best mixer on the market is KitchenAid! What more can I say. I used if for everything from the best mashed potatoes in town to the thickest recipes immaginable. I use mine for grinding nuts to grinding venison.
I love my KitchenAid mixer so much that I bought this exact mixer for my daughter for a gift! No kitchen is complete without a KitchenAid mixer. Don't throw all of your money away with the immitation mixers to turn around and buy the real deal. You won't be sorry to buy the best mixer first.
This 1 1/2 Quart Stand Mixer is definately large enough for the average kitchen.
- Before you give up on the American standard give this a second look. This model is just right for a small kitchen. Believe me I know, back in the day when I was a young child Julia Child cooked in our family ranch commercial kitchen and I had the privilege of being spoon fed her Calzone and Cannelloni. One thing that always impressed me was how efficiently she used this model of the mixer. In those days, the late 70's, it was either that small model or the huge ones that used god knows how many watts. But in addition to being the most economical this model has some advantages that a great chef learns to take advantage of. For instance just recently I made bread and wanted to use a larger bowl- a stoneware pitcher just a bit wider than the stainless provided. That's where the smaller, tighter radius with this machine comes in. You can place a slightly wider base over the outside of the machine base and do no harm to a stoneware dish. By just holding onto the dish I was able to mix the bread dough just fine. Point being you can often fit the paddles on this machine into just about any bowl you mix with and when you're really cooking it can be so handy; all you have to do is reach over and hold your dish under the mixer and turn it on. So all in all if Julia Child could multi-task her kitchen this way then it's definitely no sacrifice for a quart less. A fantastic mixer!
Also watch for a sale I got this one for 50% off new from Amazon!
- I own this one, I also bought one as a gift
- I actually bought this same "bottom of the line" KA 4.5 quart white Stand Mixer about 6 or 7 years ago from a local store during the January clearance sales so I talked my husband into buying it since my birthday was coming up. He was just learning to cook and we really didn't have a good mixer - just a double beater hand mixer that was old and the "cheapest model" back then (probably 25 years old back when we bought our KA). He couldn't imagine using a stand mixer but after using it a few times for various pancake batters, omelets, and other "light" cooking projects, he really liked it and has never regretted the price.
I already owned a breadmaker so I hadn't even tried to use mine with the bread hook or to make bread with it. I'm happy to read the other people's experiences because I will watch out for that and see if we have a similar issue. Will doubtless continue to use my breadmaker though...
I grew up using my mom's old Sunbeam stand mixer so that's one of the reasons I wanted one, but I didn't like the two beater version and had enjoyed the Kitchen Aid when I tried out the one that a friend had. Her mixer eventually died and so when this went on sale this past November or December, us kids went in on one and delivered it to her. She loves it for the cookies and cakes that she frequently makes (she's always preferred to make her bread by hand, kneading it herself!!).
So for most things that a smaller family might need, this is probably more than adequate. But if you are into the "Artesian Breads" (think King Arthur Flour and their bread recipes!!) or other projects, you'll likely want to invest in the professional models like you see on TV.
I've also seen elsewhere on Amazon some cool graphics you can stick onto the mixer head and stand (like "flame" styles you'd see on a car or a cycle) so if this one is too boring a color, you might consider some decal enhancements! ;-)
- I WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH THIS MIXER I ORDERED ONE FOR MY MOTHER IN LAW AND SEVERAL OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS. AMAZON TRUELY HAS THE VERY BEST OF THE BEST BUYS
- I love this mixer. I had an old hand-me-down mixer I never used for anything because it was cumbersome, didn't mix well and was a pain to put together and take down. This mixer was on sale around the holidays and I splurged on myself. I love it. I have used it 20 times in 3 months, which is about 10 times more than I ever used my old mixer. This goes on my list of things that are totally worth the high price. Sometimes you do get what you pay for and this is a quality mixer.
- My wife is very pleased with the mixer. She had never owned a stand mixer before, and has found many reasons to make use of it.
- This mixer is the most wonderful product I've purchased in the past 10 years! I love how easy it is to use, it does a wonderful job and makes baking much faster. It's easy to clean and is heavy-duty so I won't worry about it breaking anytime soon. The bowl is quite adequate for any size recipe unless you're doing catering from your home, then your recipes will feed 100 or more, so you'd probably want the larger Artisan model. This one was more than $100 less that the Artisan model and was exactly what I wanted! Love, love, love it!
- Ordered as a Christmas gift for a chef. It's the gift that keeps on giving..... He loves it and I love the food he makes for me with it!!
- My favorite kitchen tool!
- I've had a Kitchenaid for a couple of years now and recently purchased this model as a gift for a friend. She had threatened to take mine home with her after housesitting for me a few months back so I figured it was a perfect surprise for Christmas. I was right - she loved it!
I selected this model because she has limited counter space and it's a little smaller and lighter than the other models I had looked at. My aunt has had the same model for a number of years and uses it almost daily so I know it's durable. The only shortcoming it has is something I had not noticed before - the bowl does not have a handle and that makes it somewhat more difficult to remove and hold when pouring. I think that you can purchase a handled bowl seperately but that's going to add to your bottom line so you'll want to keep that in mind when comparing models.
Kitchenaids are HEAVY! The metal construction can make them hard to lift for people with limited strength and the flip-up head requires a good amount of space when open. It probably won't clear your upper cabinets so it's going to have to out in the open for use. Fortunately it is easy to push/pull once you have it located on the counter so you can pull it out for use and push it back when your done. There are heavy rubber feet to protect your surfaces.
Overall I think this is a good choice for even an advanced cook. The mixing action is superior to the brands I had owned before and it's "Made in America"! That point alone would get me to purchase another Kitchenaid! If you're looking for something more than basic white you'll have to fork over a few more bucks for the Artisen but that model has a handled bowl with a splash guard so the costs may about even out.
Having said that I'd buy this mixer again in a heartbeat!

- Do you like Motor Oil in your food? Then this is for you!
- I own a KitchenAid mixer - which I loved until Motor Oil started leaking into my food. Just do a quick internet search on Kitchen Aid leaking oil and you'll get plenty of information - in particular that the company won't do anything about it, other than tell you to use your mixer more often. Give me a break!! Everytime I use it, I sit with paper toweling to catch the oil before it gets into the food. No more Kitchen Aid or Whirlpool products in my house.
- Didn't understand why a product would still be on your web site for availability when product was already sold.
- Worked fine under very light use for four years. Kept extremely clean and maintained. And then it just died. Not built for longevity. The repair shop said it's not worth fixing because Kitchenaid prices its parts very high. RIP.

- I've had mine for 20 years
- I bought this mixer 20 years ago when my children were little and there was lots of baking to do. I am not a bread baker so I can not comment on that aspect. This mixer has never failed me. I've used it for everything from fruitcakes and double recipes of cookie dough to simple cakemixes and it has always done an excellent job. The weight of the mixer keeps it in place when you're mixing a heavy load. I'm sure it will still be working beautifully when they haul me off to the home. Buy it, you'll enjoy it the rest of your life.
- I bought this mixer 10 years ago at a garage sale for 40 bucks and thought I had died and gone to heaven! Seriously I had wanted a KitchenAid mixer for years but the ole budget just could not afford a new model.
It's still going strong.
We use it on a daily basis and the family rule is that if you leave the mixer a mess you invoke mom's wrath! All kidding aside it's a workhorse and worth ten times what I paid for it.
The whisk attachment is great for beating egg whites and whipping cream (put the bowl and whisk in the freezer for 15 minutes prior to whipping). The motor is so strong that if you start out whipping cream on a fast setting you will end up with cream all over the walls and yourself!
I use the dough attachment and do not notice any problem with the motor. I will say that you do need to watch when using it to knead dough as it will move across the counter and end up on the floor.
I love the fact that the bowl and mixer head are designed so that I do not need to be constantly scraping the bowl.
If you enjoy making your own sausage get the grinder attachment. You can experiment with your own sausage seasonings and also add less fat than what you can find in store bought sausage.
It's telling that there's already been a heated discussion as to who gets the mixer when I leave his earthly abode. I've already deeded it to my daughter and I have no doubt she will use it for many years herself. She's kept us in cookies on a daily basis and deserves her reward for her efforts.
- I bought KitchenAid K45SSm Classic 250-Watt 4-1/2-Quart Stand Mixer, from Amazon couple weeks ago. It is perfect and easy to use.
- The Only Mixer You'll Ever Need
- The KitchenAid Classic 4 1/2 Quart Stand Mixer
This is the only mixer you'll ever need to buy. I'm not kidding.
My husband bought me a regular mixer for Christmas in 1980. Within a few months, I had a spoon stuck in between the beaters and the mixer was ruined.
The next Christmas, 1982, he bought me a KitchenAid Mixer. The only thing that didn't hold up was the egg beater. I have a regular beater, and a dough hook.
I have made bread, cakes, mashed potatoes and you name it with this mixer. I have had my KitchenAid for 26 years, and taught four children to cook. I am now using the mixer to make cakes with my grandchildren.
I have never had any maintenance done on my mixer. It still works as well as it did the day I took it out of the box.
I have recommended this mixer to everyone.
If you buy this mixer first, you will never need to buy another mixer.
You couldn't jam a spoon into the beater, if you tried.

- Received the product in a timely manner, and am more than satisfied by the operation of the mixer. Seems to perform with all the power that the average homeowner wouold ever need. Performs as advertised.
- I wish I'd bought it a long time ago
- I had a roommate who owned one of these back in the 90s. I fell in love with it then, but didn't break down and buy my own until two years ago. I wish I'd spent the money five years sooner. If you bake, it's essential. And the ice cream maker attachment has opened a whole new world to me. This is the model I have. I might like one of the higher end models even better, but this one does everything I need for now. I use it probably 10 times as much as the Cuisinart.
- Didn't understand why a product would still be on your web site for availability when product was already sold.
- Partners For Close to 22 Years!! My Long-Standing Buddy!!!
- This mixer, in my opinion, is a true workhorse!! It has stood up to just about every task that it was assigned to. It NEVER WIMPERED OR BOGGED DOWN. Not even once!!
I've made at least 65 pound cakes, 13 German Chocolate cakes, 16 pie fillings, mounds of meringues, 65 loaves of bread, 30 batches of Parkerhouse dinner rolls, tons of whipped cream, and dozens of batches of cookies!! All with this one mixer alone, and not once in all that time did it give me any trouble!!!
Thanks to its exclusive all-metal construction, its powerful 250-watt motor and high-torque transmission. Plus the fact that this machine WILL NOT strut its stuff across the counter or table because it is heavy enough to stay put right where you use it!
The large capacity 4.5-qt stainless steel work bowl locks in place in the base and the beaters are easily interchangable with each other. Comes with a wire whisk, flat beater and dough hook as standard equipment. The machine allows for the production of two consecutive bathes of bread dough.
Great unit for the budget-concious cook who wants great quality but don't want to spend a fortune for a reliable simple basic mixer!! Twenty-two years this coming November, and not one peep out of it. That's amazing!!
It gets the job done!! Very phenomenal!!

- The Kitchen Aid mixers always were built for a lifetime... They still are. We love it!
