- returned the unit because I found the same on another web site at a much lower price.
- Well Built Food Processor
- I bought this machine a few weeks ago. The quality of the materials is excellant. The plastic parts are durable. I discovered that the parts are dishwasher safe. The machine runs extremely quiet. I observed that when the machine is in operation, it stays put, unlike the cheaper food processors, which tug and jerk at the counter. I have only used the shredding disk so far. The machine does an excellant job of completing the task. I can't wait to use the other attachments.
The appliance is heavy. A separate covered tray allows for safe & easy storage of the attachments. The instruction book contained a few recipes and suggested uses for the attachments. I would only suggest that the instruction book should be more detailed with attachment usage and contain more recipes.
I am very happy with my purchase and recommend this appliance highly.
- Love this Food Processor!
- I had a Braun food processor that lasted me at least a decade but I always had problems with the switch and the latch that kept the bowl on the machine. By the end of it's time with me it was getting harder and harder to turn it off as well as remove the bowl from the stand. Even though it still worked, I ended up throwing it away due to frustration with having to fiddle with it every time I used it.
I decided that since I like to keep these things for a long time I wanted the best. After a lot of research I decided on the Kitchenaid 12 cup in Empire Red.
It is gorgeous to look at for starters! It is also has a very powerful and relatively quiet motor. It is really heavy and has a very solid feel. There is no vibration or rattling. It is very easy to use with three buttons: on, off and pulse. Everything on this machine feels solid and tight. I can tell already that this one will well outlast my Braun.
This is a great investment that I can tell will be in my kitchen for decades.
- Having never used a food processor before, I went by others' recommendations on this one. Once I got used to how the food processor works, I really like it. It comes with a case for most of the attachments, but not all. (One of the blades gets left out so I have to store it in the food processor for safety's sake). I'm having a lot of fun with this, and looking forward to learning more ways to use it. I recommend this product.
- This product is great! It works perfectly and is better than the smaller version. It shipped fast and was very well packaged. Amazon had the lowest price, plus there is a $20 rebate. This was a great buy!
- I bought this in February and still have no complaints. It works great...there have been no problems. The step down capability to process smaller batches has been very handy. Since the construction is sturdy, I'm thinking it'll be around for many years. Yeah!
- I've had this since Christmas 2007. I got this to replace my ancient LaMchine food processor, and couldn't be happier. This is real quality - not to mention heavy! It works like a charm and is amazingly quiet.
I love that the accessories come in a storage case - much easier to deal with than having to find room in a drawer for all the loose pieces. The case has slots for each accessory so the edges stay sharp.
One thing I love is the piece in the food chute with the hole in the bottom. This is excellent for adding liquids while you're processing. I used it when making pesto to add olive oil while the machine was running. It adds the oil in a nice, continuous stream, rather than dumping it in all at once.
I know there are a million other uses for it that I haven't tried, but I'll explore those before long, too!
All in all, I highly recommend!
- The right tool for serious home chef
- ATK recommends it highly, so I bought it. They are right. This is definitely a must-have tool for any serious home chef who want to elevate his/her cooking to a higher level.
At a minimum, it will make your cooking tasks so much easier.
- An excellent food processor. No complaints what so ever. My wife has made several different kinds of dishes with this appliance and all have turned out great. Her Pico de Gallo rocks!
- Excellent value for the money
- This processor is a work horse. Well designed, easy to clean and quite sturdy - well balanced for large recipes. Having two different sized work bowls is wonderful! Convenient case to store attachments and blades. Love this machine and highly recommend it to those looking for a large food processor.

- I have cooked professionally for 20 years and have used many brands of food processors. I have never had any trouble ever using a food processor until purchasing this KitchenAid. I waited several years before replacing a Sunbeam that I inherited from my mother-in-law that is now 30+ years old. I had no idea anyone was making food processors that long ago! The thing was a work horse, but had no safety features (it could run with the top completely removed!). Now that I have a child, I decided to upgrade to a safer piece of equipment.
The KitchenAid Processor is a beautiful piece of equipment and very quiet WHEN IT WORKS. Many times I could not get the machine to come on due to the safety switch built into the handle not engaging properly. When I called KitchenAid for help they would walk me through putting it together and made note of my troubles. The last time I called them, it put me over a year since purchase so they replaced it with a refurbished model. That would be fine, however this one is flawed, as well. It has the same problem other reviewers mentioned with the plastic on the blade shaft being shaved off while making a horrible unbearable screeching sound. Now I am back to square one and tempted to toss it and buy a different brand. I could have chopped, grated and worked dough by hand for a year in all the time I have wasted messing with two defective machines. This has been such a disappointment and I feel let down by KitchenAid.
- Poor design - classic example of "over engineering"
- I am sorely disappointed with this machine. It's a classic example of taking a simple concept and making it complicated.
There are too many little pieces, gadgets, and whiz bangs that you have to assemble in order to make it work. The small bowl is too small, and frequently leaks over into the large bowl. All of the little nooks and crannies in the various blades and other attachments collect all of the food bits and are hard to clean.
You can't get much into the small bowl, and the large bowl doesn't do a good job of chopping or processing with a smaller batch. No happy medium here. For the price, you'd think you could get a machine with variable speeds, too.
The only good feature it that it runs quiet. I've used Kitchenaid products for years - that's why I bought this one. However, this one is a real disappointment. Be sure and try one or see a demo BEFORE you lay out the bucks for this work of art....

- This is a great food processor! We use it weekly. The only complaint is that it can be difficult to get the small bowl out without making a mess. Other than that it works really well and does a variety of jobs!

- I bought this mostly to grate carrots which it does great except for the last skinny little bits which end up between the blade and the cover. My dog gets those! I've used it once to knead dough which it did great, but may not knead a double batch very well. I look forward to trying other things with it.
