- Use them with your food grinder attachment to prepare fresh pasta. Five interchangeable plates create a variety of pasta shapes. Fits all KitchenAid stand mixers. Model SNPA.

- ignore the naysayers: some of the best money I have ever spent
- These attachments make fresh home made pasta a complete doddle. Using this add-on for the food grinder further extends the usefulness and flexibility of the superb KitchenAid mixers.
As for the bad reviews, the only way I can imagine someone damaging their mixer with this attachment is if they make the pasta too wet - the pasta dough looks like bread crumbs, as if it was barely damp flour - or if someone takes the instructions too literally - in the instructions it says to use pieces of pasta dough "the size of a walnut": if you grab some of the dough and squash it all up to make a walnut-sized lump I could see it damaging the mixer motor. I just dropped the dough crumbs "as is" into the grinder and the pasta flew out the end :)
To make your pasta healthier, use egg beaters instead of eggs (drastically reduces the cholesterol) and swap out some of the AP flour for resistant starch (reduces the glycaemic index), and enjoy your healthier fresh pasta!
- Love the container that holds all the blades, bowl clips, etc. in one place. It keeps it all together, so I'm not constantly looking and rummaging through drawers to find the parts. However, I was not aware that I needed the grinder to be able to use these blades. I thought they were add ons for my pasta rollers (duh! right?) Anyway, I had to order the grinder before using these blades. I just received the grinder, so have not had a chance to use the blades yet. I am, however, looking forward to using this set, especially with the price of pasta going sky high along with all the rest of the groceries. (THANK YOU OIL COMPANIES!!!)
- Have always wanted to try making pasta. This is an easy way to do it. I thought it might take some practice to get it right but my first batch of pasta turned out great!
- Couldn't wait to use this item. I made the dough as directed. Make sure to let it rest. I did 30 mins in the refrigerator. Then I set up the disks and put in my walnut size pieces of dough. The spaghetti came out. It stuck together. I think next time I will load up my turkey baster with flour so I can give the emerging strands enough of a dusting so they won't stick together. The clumps may not have looked appetising but they tasted great! My husband remarked that they reminded him of his grandmother's homemade noodles(which he loved)! It won't take long for me to get the whole thing down pat!
- So much easier than I expected.
- After reading so many unfavorable reviews, I was hesitant to purchase this pasta attachment. I have made pasta using the roller/ fettuccini /linguini attachements, but I prefer spaghetti. The day after I received the attachment in the mail, I decided to try making spaghetti. I used my own pasta recipe, but I took the advice in the instruction manuel and I sifted the flour first to make it easier on the machine. I pulled the pasta dough apart into small chunks and dropped them into the feed tube, and it worked like a charm starting with the first batch. I didn't have any problem with the pasta curling. The spaghetti was somewhat warm and sticky when it came through, so I just seperated it with my fingers and tossed it with flour. I made over a pound of pasta, and it cooked up in 2 minutes. I will be using this attachment often!
- Even the finest plate works great. Should improve as we get the dough perfected. Easy clean up, too.
- We received our pasta plates in a timely manner. Although there was one plate missing from the package, a telephone call to a representative of the company brought the plate to us immediately. The whole process of ordering was quite pleasant.
- Give up store-bought pasta (almost)
- I also have the pasta roller plates. I only use store-bought pasta for shapes that aren't covered between the attachments (use these for round pasta). This is very easy to use and easy to clean. Making the pasta goes pretty fast too. It takes a little practice to get the length perfect, but that's part of the fun. The bowl clips that come in the set are an added bonus because they are extremely helpful when kneading stiff bread and cookie doughs.
- This is a great attachment!! I use this for serving fresh pasta. It is a little tricky to use this tool to make pasta ahead of time (drying), the instructions say to make "walnut" size balls and place in the extruder, I found making "logs" was much better. My kids enjoy using this too.....
- Good Product. A bit pricey, but its Kitchen Aid!.. You get what you pay for
- Its a good product, and very useful. Its a fast, fun and affordable way for a family to make pasta together. I got my first one when I bought my mixer while in College about 15 yrs ago. My mixer is going strong still and just got my mom the Pro model for the Bed and Breakfast we have. I got my cousins and nephews into making pasta, esp Chocolate Dessert Pasta, and it helped them learn to cook and enjoy it, and most smart men know, ladies love a man that can cook!!!!
Enjoy it and have fun with it! Would have been 5 Stars, but I thought the price was a tad too high when I bought a replacement one this year after I moved and my original one got misplaced.

- Save your money. I got a kitchen aid mixer last year and LOVE it. So I decided to try the pasta plates. It took forever to make the pasta, and was a very tedious process. I followed the recipe included to the letter, and it still didn't help. I plan to return the plates. Such a disappointment from such a great mixer company!
- I used this once, re-boxed it and then relegated it to the back of my pantry. I would have returned it but just never got around to it. It is impossible to make pasta with this attachment. My husband gave me a hand-cranked Al Dente brand maker that I love.
- A waste of money (from a company that KNOWS better)
- I love my mixer (this is my second kitchenaid; I upgraded from the low-end model and gave my mom the old one!) but I hate this accessory. I already had the meat grinder and figured that since we like pasta so much this would be a good investment. WRONG! It simply doesn't work. All the strands of pasta stick together as they come out of the holes, even when using the recommended/included recipe. Save your money and buy a hand-cranked fettuccine maker, or splurge and get a dedicated electric pasta machine.
- I teach pasta making classes on a regular basis and have always used a hand cranked pasta machine. Last week a friend brough over his KA rollers for me to try. We attached them to my KA mixer, and WOW! It was incredibly easy and made the absolute best textured pasta I've ever had - EVER!
I was so excited by the thought of being able to make extruded pastas with these plates I was going to jump on here and buy them right away --- that is until I read all these horrible reviews. THANK YOU EVERYONE!! I guess I'll stick with my fettucine, linguine and lasagna and buy the wonderful rollers instead!
- Nice idea; looks good, but doesn't work too well & will kill your mixer!
- I was eager to try this gadget out last night with my new mixer and food grinder attachment, so I followed the Basic Pasta Recipe in the manual. After letting the dough rest for 15 - 30 mins by the cool window-sill (didn't have space in my fridge), I hooked up the attachments with the spaghetti plate, set the mixer at Speed 10 according to the instructions and dropped a walnut-sized dough ball into the chute. It took a while for the dough to extrude and eveything stuck together. I tried to sprinkle flour as it came out but it was difficult, since the strands hung straight down. Even when I lifted them up to dust them, they were still stuck together. I tried a few more times, shutting down the mixer every few minutes as the motor was getting really hot. I thought the problem would be resolved by using the fettucine plate (thicker strands), but the strands still stuck together since the "holes" were placed vertically. My Heavy Duty Plus mixer was burning up and I didn't want to "kill" it, so I stopped the machine, put the dough and srands in a Ziploc bag and threw it into the fridge. I had had enough - there was flour all over the counter and mixer from trying to dust the extruding strands which didn't help make them "unstick" at all; and clean up was even worse. I spent more time trying to get the dough out of crevices, the plates, and even the grinder cover than I did on making only a small portion of pasta from the dough! The only thing I like about this set is the bowl clips and that might be the only reason I would keep this set, since I got it for less than half the price at another store during a sale. This morning I decided to have egg noodle soup for lunch, so I boiled the spaghetti and fettucine strands separately from the soup. They tasted great! The rest of the dough - I guess I'll have to roll it out and cut it manually. Note: I added 1/2 tsp baking powder to the flour to make the pasta/noodles lighter and more airy in texture. The problem could be with my recipe, but that doesn't fix the burning motor problem, so I would recommend using a manual pasta machine or the pasta roller/cutter attachments rather than burning up your mixer.
- KitchenAid SNPA Pasta Maker Plates for Food Grinder
- I wish I hadn't of bought this. I read another review where they said smoke was coming out of their mixer. I thought towards the end of making pasta with these attachments, that mine too would burn up the motor. I have the pasta rollers and cutters. More expensive but soooo much easier to work with and less stress on your mixer.
- We were very disappointed with this product. Normally Kitchen Aid products that we have bought have exceeded our expectations for quality and performance but this one falls short.
- I have a manual pasta roller that makes great pasta. I thought this attachment might make the process easier, but it doesn't work. Kitchenaid should stop selling this product because it is next to impossible to make it work. The noodles curl as they come out of the plates and unless you have an extremely dry dough, the noodles stick to one another. I even went as far as mounting the mixer so the noodles would extrude straight down, but they still managed to stick together. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.
- NOT WORTHY OF THE KITCHENAID NAME
- I had nothing but bad luck trying to make pasta with this junk. The extruded pasta stuck together and is really a pain to try to pick it apart. I tried tweeking the recipe that came in the manual but still no luck. Not worth the bother. I am getting a roller attachment for my mixer. Total waste of money, time and effort. KitchenAid should take this off the market.
- I really think that I wasted my money when I bought this. I tried to make macaroni and it was a real mess. The dough comes out warm from the extruder; therefore, the strands stick together. I will continue to buy macaroni and make everything else with my pasta roller, cutter set.
