- This Digital Convection Toaster Oven in black and metal from Krups is ideal for limited kitchen space. Its baking function circulates heated air around food for a faster, more evenly distributed cooking result. It runs on 1600-watts of power to produce maximum heat. This toaster oven also features an illuminated LCD control panel with easy-to-use controls and high quality soft-touch buttons, six controlled cooking presets for one-step cooking and a reflective crumb tray to produce the best toasting results in a toaster oven. In addition, there is a precise temperature control, defrost function, and a digital clock. Its nonstick interior surface is easy to clean. The toaster oven includes a nonstick bake pan, broil tray, and thermal resistant tongs for safe removal of hot pans or food. It is constructed from a premium stainless steel housing.

- Seems to be built well and does an excellent job. I tossed my old one and will never look back.
- Worth the time I put into investigating toaster ovens!
- I have had a Black & Decker toaster oven for years. It has never been good at anything other than toasting bread. Then that function started to get erratic. So, I spent hours trying to find the right toaster oven for me. Once I accepted that getting a quality oven was going to cost a little more than a B&D, I narrowed in on the Krups and the Cuisinart TOB-175. I nearly went for the Cuisinart due to the number of positive reviews posted on Amazon. However, while walking thru a store I found one that I could look over in person. The quality just didn't seem to be as good as the Krups.
I LOVE the way the Krups FBC4 works. I have used it daily for toast, baked cookies and brownies, roasted sweet potatoes and prepared dinner entrees.
Everything except the brownies has turned out great. The brownies were underbaked on the bottom layer and now that I'm more familiar with the oven, I know that lowering the shelf position and bumping the temp a few degrees will produce great results.
The toaster oven looks great, is easy to use, easy to clean...in short, it's a keeper!
- A-One product and seller. Best toaster oven I have owned!!! Love the three burners on top and bottom. They alternate in the heating cycle.
- No Hot Spots - A Great Toaster Oven
- This is the first toaster oven I have ever owned (this is my fourth, including DeLonghi and Cuisinart) that does not have hot spots. Roasted potatoes brown at the same rate - toast is evenly browned and even pine nuts toast evenly.
Like some others, I initially found the automatic timer a moderate pain - but I suppose it is a safety feature - you can't wander off and leave the oven on beyond its programmed time. With experience, I've even come to like it. Pre-heating is quick - 400 degrees in four minutes - then I just set the timer at some even number - 30 or 60 minutes - just to keep track of how long things have been baking or roasting.
The one feature I would like to see is a convection broil where the fan works with the heating elements - I just think it would make for a more even broiler heat.
All in all - this is by far the best toaster oven I have ever used - highly recommended.
- I Love This Toaster Oven!
- I have been purchasing items for Amazon for years and this is the first item that I have liked enough to write a review about. We just threw away our 3 year old basic Black and Decker toaster oven as one of the heating elements burned out. As this is a high use item in our house I decided an upgrade was in order and spent entirely TOO MUCH time researching it. People, there is a reason all of the pros and magazines say this is the best. Because it is.
The toast is fine. MUCH better than our old one. If you are that picky about it buy a toaster! So far I have used it for heating up a loaf of artisian style bread (yum), toast, bagels, cookies and fish. The bagel feature is great. I love the fact that the bottom doesn't toast. But, the real winner was the fish. I took an individually frozen piece of talapia and baked it for about 20 minutes covered, with butter and herbs, and it came out perfectly!!
It is a little more complicated than most but does more. If you follow the directions and rack levels then it is no big deal to learn. It is like a mini convection oven, which is what it is. By the way, the convection is worth every penny.
Yes, the buzzer is loud....better than not knowing when your toast is done and it is cold which is what always what used to happen. There is no safety catch with the shelves so you have to be careful, but again very similar to a real oven. So far no complaints here. Don't spend too much time thinking, this one is awesome.
- Great oven, cheep broiler pan
- I have owned 5 or 6 toaster ovens and have found them all lacking in one way or another. But this is the best toaster oven I have ever used. It works great, as long as you follow the manuals suggestions about where to put the shelf depending on what you are cooking. Bagels cook great as long as you use the bagels setting with the bagel on the shelf 3 position. We have been using this toaster oven almost everyday since we got it and it toasts the bread evenly on both sides of the bread. This is hard to find in a toaster, we have been trying for years to find one.
The Door seems to work fine for us. It never sticks at all? There may be a better toaster oven out there, but I have yet to use it. The other complaints are correct though. Krups should have just used baked enamel on the broiler pan they send with the toaster oven. The Teflon one they send with the oven is heavy duty enough but the Teflon coating they used is junk. If Krups really wanted to stop most of the complaints about their toaster ovens all they have to do is stop using Teflon pans and use either stainless steel or enameled steel. If you want a toaster oven that works well get this one. And the book pop it in the toaster oven. But what really chaps my hide is that the white oven cost $10 more than the black one!
- Krups toaster oven magic!
- The unique method of getting double the wattage out of a 1600w oven is remarkable.
Great easy to use and ultra accurate controls for heating and time.
- I really like this product. The toasting time, to me is not a problem. It does bagels better then anything I've ever used. The convection oven is great for smaller sized items. I would reccomend it to anyone needing something simular.
- finding a conssumer's convection toaster oven that works.
- After four or five months of shopping for a convection oven that actually performed the way the publicity said it would, buying several, and returning each one, I read a recent article in Cook's magazine which recommended the Krups convection oven. So far, I've used all the functions successfully, much to my pleasure and also, I might add, my wife's.
- After researching Cooks Illustrated reviews, I selected this model and have been very satisfied.

- Contains Defect Likely to Lead to Failure
- I purchased this Krups Toaster Oven on August 22, 2006 in hopes that it would be just as great as the Krups electric coffee mill I have been using daily for about 30 years. It was great, until this morning. All of the controls (timer, etc.) appeared to work properly, but it no longer produced any heat. Since it is out of warranty coverage and I am a curious electrical engineer, I removed the covers to see what had failed.
One of the connections to the over-temperature protection device was burned off. I say burned because the wire strands were fused together by the heat when the wire melted through. Judging from the burnt and crumbling insulation and the burn marks at both terminals of the protection device, it appears that the second connection was faulty as well, and it was just a matter of which one was going to fail first.
While apparently of sufficient mechanical strength, the connections are not sufficiently robust electrically to carry the necessary current.
This is clearly a defect in design, materials, or workmanship - or perhaps all three.
So much for "Passion, Precision, Perfection". When I pay a premium price for a premium product, I expect better.
I sent my findings to Krups. In response, I got a "We regret to learn that you encountered any difficulty...", information about the one year warranty, and instructions for sending it in for repair. Not particularly helpful for a two year old product.
Unless Krups will verify that they have changed the design of these connections, which I have no reason to believe they have done, I strongly recommend against purchasing this product.
- TWO defective units sent back!
- The first unit I received wouldn't turn off. I returned it and the second unit I received wouldn't turn off either. I had to unplug them to get them to turn off. I returned them both and bought a Cuisinart brand toaster oven instead. It's too bad because I liked the features of this Krups unit, but I wasn't going to take a third chance with them.
- Initially Great Until Design Defect Starts
- I purchased this toaster oven about two months ago and was initially thrilled at its performance. Since then I have noticed that after the convection fan takes a long time to start spinning (during the critical pre-heating process.) Normally with convection cooking you can start cooking immediately without preheating because the convection fan evens out the heat while the burners are on.
When I spoke with a customer service rep named Nick on the phone, he tested the company cafeteria's oven, and he told me it behaved the same way as mine, and he insisted that this is how the convection fan is designed to operate. I asked him why it was designed this way, and he told me that the air only needs to circulate after the oven heats up.
Nick called me back a week later and told me that in fact the convection fan is supposed to start immediately. However, he told me I would be responsible for paying the shipping to have the unit repaired, and he could not give me any assurance that they have solved this apparently chronic problem.
For a $200 toaster, I expect better service when a design problem is encountered. Try another brand!
- Negative consumer experience
- Krups FBC4-13 6-Slice Convection Digital Toaster Oven with Preset Cooking Functions
A heating rod popped the first week I owned this oven. Repair involved 120 miles of driving to drop off and pick up the appliance, a long delay (over 6 weeks to have it repaired). My emails and phone calls to both Krups and their authorized repair facility were ignored. The oven's finally back and toasting away, but I don't really trust it. It might be a good product in the long run, but Krups' service was abysmal.
- non functional - item returned
- The handle on the item was broke almost off and the appliance did not function at all when plugged in. (Was purchased from the warehouse option)
- Toaster was defective. I returned it and got my money back.
- The display did not work on the unit I was shipped. Without the display I could not tell or set the temperature or the time. But I thought it was a great toaster nonetheless, so, after I returned it (postpaid by the seller) I bought another, a slightly different model, the FBC2-12, from another seller. This model does not have the "smart cooking" that the FBC4-12 has, but I decided I did not really need or want that feature. Also the FBC2 has a black chassis, which looks better on my black granite counter top than the stainless chassis of the FBC4. It works great and by having less "smarts" has, I decided, less to go wrong in light of my experience with the FBC4. I have had it now for about a month and I love it -- the toaster, baking and convection oven have all proven excellent and easy to use. And it looks good too. I can recommend both the product and the seller I bought it from -- they gave me no hassle about the return, gave me my money back and paid for the return shipping. But awarding it stars presented a problem since the one I got was defective. But the seller did not know that I am sure when they sent it to me and they responded very well when I informed them of it. So I gave it two stars, but nevertheless recommend both the product and the seller.
- I have always had small toaster and or convections overs, to save money and don't always need the power of my new JenAir Kitchen I just had installed (LOVE IT). When I only cook for myself, I use the small oven (Krups). For the price this oven is a BIG BIG MAJOR flop, it gets hot all over when cooking, you can burn yourself, the door does not operate correctly, jams, when cooking the sides and top of the door and frame turn brown from cooking, instead of venting. This is what other write ups also say, I should have learned from their mistakes.
My recommendation is that I would PASS on this Krups, especially for the price, where is the craftmanship, attention to details and quality of the product, it does not exist.
This is the most expensive Convection and or toaster oven I have ever bought and would strongly recommend that you look at cheaper models with same features, and based on write ups like this one choose any maker but this one.
Good Luck if you chose this turkey.

- I had never owned a toaster oven, but when I moved into an apartment without an oven, I knew I had to find a great one. (I know, no oven. Shocking to most, but not unheard of for my fellow New Yorkers.) I love this toaster oven! I looked at dozens and agonized over which one to buy. I have been totally happy with my Krups. I have baked brownies and fish and toasted bagels and bread. Everything has turned out perfectly. No complaints!
- I bought this to replace an old cuisinart. It exceeds that cuisinart which I enjoyed using daily for several years. It still worked, but looked pretty bad. This Krups makes better toast and bakes as well, plus has a few more convenient design features. I've been using it regularly for a month.
- So far I love this oven. Of course my previous oven was over 10 years old and it was not nearly this expensive. But this one heats much more evenly. I am still learning the controls so may work even better later. I like having racks that can be placed at various heights. It is also easy to clean.
I use my toaster oven more than any other kitchen appliance. I prefer food heated or cooked in a toaster oven to the microwave. This one does a great job on frozen food and grilled sandwiches.
The only incovenience (other than space taken on counter) is the timing which only seems to adjust in minutes and starts at 30 minutes. Since most of what I cook takes less than 10 this requires a large adjustment. May be a way to work around using the presets. I have to reread the instruction booklet. In the meantime I am using my kitchen timer that I used with my old oven and with my other cooking.
I would highly recommend this oven to anyone who uses a toaster oven in place of their regular oven if they have room on their counter (it does take a lot of space). Now it would be great if frozen food companies would start a line of frozen dinners and entrees for toaster ovens for us old timers who do not like what microwaves do to meat and bread.
- First Toaster Oven - Satisfied!
- It is our first toaster oven ever. So, of course I didn't know where to begin to find one. Thanks to the Internet, I read tons (took me a couple of days)of reviews and narrowed it down to about 2 or 3. Then, I went with this oven for its size and functions. By the way, the delivery was very prompt! I was literally counting minutes to get it -Anticipated!!
I made some mistakes in the beginning of use; got olive oil on the quartz element, overcook chicken and steak...etc. But I don't regret buying this oven at all. Now I've got the hang of it, and know how to use it. :) Just make sure not to put anything on the top of the oven. I put bread after it was off, but since it was still hot, the vinyl got stuck on the oven surface and it took me couple days to remove it :'( I never put anything on the top anymore. :-D
- High quality toaster oven which is hard to find on the market now days. Work and looks great.
- We are completely happy with this Krups Toaster Oven. So far, we have used it to cook, make toast, warm left overs and toast bagels. We are especially happy with the perfect toasted bagel, soft warm on the uncut bottom and light brown toasty on the cut side. The multiple settings are intuitive and easy to use.
- Very good product. Much better than our 10-year-old toastmaster.
Good for toast and small items for baking.
For Krups, suggest top that isn't flat so your not tempted to put anything on it as the top gets very hot.
