- Enjoy making fruit smoothies or sophisticated adult cocktails with this excellent blender-like device that's a bit more than a typical blender. It's geared for making ice beverages in a way that blenders can barely touch. The Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker is built to party! Unlike a blender, the Frozen Concoction Maker shaves ice and blends it with your favorite ingredients for restaurant-quality consistency every time. Take the guesswork out of frozen beverages with its pre-programmed automatic settings. Simply, fill the ice hopper with ice, add ingredients to the blending jar and fire it up! It does all the work... you take all the credit! 1 Year Limited Warranty

- Exceptional Quality! Worth the expense!
- The finest frozen drink machine ever! I've tried them all and killed many a motor over the years. This is a tank. Slightly expensive but well worth it! A few "chincy" issues but the money goes where it's needed, in the motor and operation features. Very Cool! Exceptional product. When this one dies I'll get an other!
- This machine is great. If you follow the recipes in the book the margaritas come out with a wonderful consistency. You just put the correct amount of mix into the lower blender, set the dial for the number of drinks (1-3), and "Set it and forget it". It works for daiquiris as well. It is well made.
Pros: Perfect margaritas. Easy to use. Has ability to adjust the amount of ice and reblend. Great centerpiece for any party.
Cons: It's big, heavy and loud but who cares after a few drinks!
- Expensive, but it works great
- I thought I was nuts for spending this much money for a specialized blender at Williams Sonoma this past week, but let me tell you this thing REALLY works! It shaves ice perfectly and you can have perfect drinks in seconds with no hassle. If you would rather focus on the party and ignore the hassle, then this is for you. It cleans up easily too.
I'm glad I bought it, but I do wish it were about $200 cheaper as it is basically useless for anything but shaved ice drinks.
- IT Rocks! No really, IT ROCKS!
- I ordered mine in February. I received it within 3 days using the free shipping.
I fired it up that night with my fiance and friends.
We made 3 different types of "freezy" drinks.
The machine is so worth it!
I was considering buying the full size Parrot-Ice machine for 2k, but decided to be a little frugal. I'm glad I did!
This machine will keep a party of 2-15 people happy as long as you have TONS of ice on hand.
I set it up on a table with 3, or 4 different types of mixes and a big cooler of ice.
We have thrown 2 pool parties, and 2 crawfish boils with this machine kicking out drinks. Not once has there been a problem, except for XXXXXXX getting her bikini top ripped off by the ice hooper lid.....but that was NOT the machines fault! (mostly not) :)
Cleaning the machine is just like cleaning your blender, but with a few more parts. It is a drag, but it is worth it. It takes about 5 minutes to clean and dry all the parts.
We discovered a low calorie freezy drink you should try.
Crystal Lite made with 1 part water, 2 parts vodka, and ice.
Set the machine for 3 servings and add the liquid to the 3cup measure on the side.
Give the blended mixture a little more shaved ice and viola!
Seriously buy the machine, or you will hate yourself and stub your toe.
Doug.
- Finally ... a great mixer, blender, frozen drink maker ...
- The order arrived early ... we immediatly tried it out and we were very impressed. It took us a little while to fine tune the ratios of liquids but now it's just pour and flip the switch. Easy clean up, we love the melted ice catcher on the back along with the hidden cord compartment. A little pricy but overall it was worth it.
- Great Frozen Drinks and Entertaining Too!
- This thing makes the best margaritas and frozen drinks (don't follow their recipe!). This is the only way to get really slushy mags with out having an ice crusher or killing you regular blender. Simply put ice cubes in the top, mix in the bottom, set how many drinks you want to make and hit "start". It does the rest and puts on a great show for everyone watching. It's all automatic. Seems very well made. Watch out for the switches on the front, they are plastic and look like they could be broken off easily.
- this is the best invention yet.No choking on big ice chunks, just as smooth as can be.Heavy duty too, Ive only had it a month, but Ive had about 200 blenderfulls through it already.Buy it youll like it,worth the money.
- I distinctly remember making fun of the Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker when I first saw it advertised in the Front Gate catalog. ("Who's going to buy a three hundred dollar blender on steroids?!? Hah-hah-hah...") Imagine my horror when my wife announced that she wanted one for her birthday. Looks like that "who" was going to be "me".
The vast majority of positive reviews on Amazon calmed my fears a bit and I ordered one up. As usual, Amazon delivered quickly and it was unpacked and setup in a couple minutes.
Exactly true to its claims, the thing actually makes perfect consistency margaritas and any other frozen drinks you can think of. I think I like it more than my wife. It has a "power tool" vibe to it that guys appreciate. Spinning blades and high speed motors. What could possibly go wrong?
There's a few things/tips to be aware of:
1) It's BIG. It just barely clears the front of our kitchen cabinets and is too tall to go under them. Pretty heavy to lift onto a high shelf too.
2) It does a more consistent job making a "full" pitcher than just a single drink. Having a lot of ice in the hopper works best; putting a single glass full of ice in will be too watery if you use the automatic cycle. To compensate, for a single drink I manually hold the "shave" switch on for ~4-5 seconds prior to starting the automatic mix cycle. Works great.
3) The shaved ice melts faster than cubes when it touches glass, so I've taken to icing the pitcher to keep the glass cool (or at least filling it with cold water for a few seconds) before adding the liquid ingredients. Unlike plastic pitchers on commercial drink makers, the glass (thick glass at that) can transfer a lot of heat. Popping it straight out of a hot dishwasher onto the stand will give you a mighty runny margarita.
4) Although "dishwasher safe" the lid to our pitcher turned a funny mottled brown/green color after one cycle in the wash. Not sure if it was the heat or the detergent or what, but after that it was slightly brittle and generally "weird". A call to the 800 customer service number yielded a free replacement which we just hand wash now.
All in all, it works as advertised and is a real crowd pleaser at parties. A good gizmo.
- A real attention getter at our parties. Makes the perfect margarita as well as smooties and other drinks.
- Quality and Completely Idiot Proof
- I'm completely satisfied with this product. This product is far better than some lower end items available. It's worth the extra money.

- If you make lots of Margaritas, READ THIS
- As a caveat, I make a lot of margaritas...frozen and on the rocks. I live in TX, and we generally make the margaritas a bit on the strong side.
I plugged this machine in and got started (which was easy to do) and quickly realized:
1. Using a liquid margarita mix and tequila and other ingredients, per the instruction manual, the machine makes a very watery and weak margarita. The problem is when you use a liquid mix, which already contains water, and then add shaved ice to it, you get something really watered down. This was the case using their recommended recipe and default settings for an easy 1,2 or 3 serving margarita.
2. The shaved and blended ice, using the default 'blend & shave' setting is very chippy and lumpy...it is NOT a smooth slurpee-like ice mixture. It's more like what you would get from your run-of-the-mill $30 blender. You can manually shave and blend the ice more than the default setting, and that makes it a bit smoother, but you can also do that with a standard blender.
3. To get a stronger flavor, you can use a frozen concentrate (like a Bacardi mixer), but what you'll end up with is almost exactly the same in taste and consistency that you would get from a standard blender.
Overall, I was very disappointed in the product -- expecting something much easier than my regular blender, and with much superior quality margaritas. Unfortunately, I don't think it delivered on either account.
- Stop...Do not BUY this product without reading this review
- I bought this machine a month ago with so much excitement and anticipation. When it arrived, my husband and I immediately took it out and went to the store to get supplies to make a great Margarita. When we made the drink, it was horrible....instead of shaved ice as the advertisement states, it made balls of sleet and chunks of ice. The margarita's it made were not drinkable as they had an oily taste as well. We packed up the machine and wrote a letter to the president of company - Cooks Plus, Hilton Head, SC, and got pitiful customer service. He refused to stand behind the machine or take it back. After repeated phone calls it is now up to me to continue wasting my time by other means to try to get my money back for a product that totally does not work. I highly recommend that you do not buy this machine and if you do, it is not through this resource of Amazon.

- Now That's a Good Margarita!
- Well - I finally broke down and purchased this frozen drink maker - and we LOVE it. Several years ago, we rented a commercial model for a party we had at our house. It was a big hit, so I thought I'd buy one. I was shocked at the price, however - about $1000 and up. I gave up.
A few months ago, however, I saw this one and we broke down and purchased it after looking it over for way too long. Well - let me tell you, it makes very good frozen drinks. I mean very good. The drinks have a great texture (I was worried about ice chunks) and once I got the recipe down - a great tase. Still at about $250, it is expensive.
Note that this unit doesnt make ice - you add ice to the top, the unit shaves the ice and adds it into the blender. Then the blender automatically runs and blends whatever ingredients you've added into a perfectly smooth and icey blend.
So - at $250 it is expensive, but I think it is well worth it.
- Excellent Machine! The best I've seen!!!
- This Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker DM1000 is the best that I've ever seen. At one point, I seriously considered buying the Island Oasis for $2500, as pricey as that is, just to have a good machine at home for entertaining...but then I found this thing, read all the reviews and figured, why not give it a shot for under $300? I'M SO GLAD I DID!
This thing has a powerful motor, and it's finished drinks are as good as you'll get out of any Island Oasis machine. It truly is dummy-proof and makes a professional bartender out of just about anyone. Follow written drink recipies or create your own. Tripping over your own great recipies is half the fun with this thing!
In the beginning, we though the drinks came out a bit watery, but due to the ice being shaven, then blended, the shaved ice would often melt down a bit, losing a bit of the "slushyness". We found that we ignored a few tips to actually freeze the blender jar (or at least refrigerate it for a while) before making drinks. This way, when the shaven ice hits the jar, it does not instantly start to melt. This is the secret to making a drink with the perfect consistency.
This machine is great at home, and we bought the carrying case for it as well so we can take it with us to our football tailgating parties and everything else. People have seen it in action and now request that we bring it with us to their events. I should start charging a rental fee and make my purchase money back on it!!!
If you don't have one of these...BUY ONE!!! It is great.
- I have only used the product a few times, but I absolutely love it. I am definitely going to buy some to give out as gifts to friends. saw them brand new on ebay for a very good price!
- Our household has bought 3 of these in the past year - two to give as gifts and one I received as an anniversary gift from my husband (best d*** anniversary gift I've received during my 40 years of marriage). The people who have received the Margaritaville Machines are absolutely ga-ga over them and have thanked us profusely. It easy to use and really makes fail-proof Margaritas. My only complaint: I cannot get the ice shaving blade out to examine (for nicks) and to dry. My spouse really got a nasty cut in the process of doing so. So I dry it in situ.
Buy a MM, you won't be sorry. We love ours.
- Want an ADDITIONAL PITCHER & LARGER ICE CONTAINER?????
- We were entertaining and I didn't have time to whip up our usual recipe. A quick search on the net came up with what is apparently the hands down only decent ready-made mix on the market: Dr. Swami & Bone Daddy's Top Shelf Margarita Mix. After fiddling with just how much liquid to ice makes us happy, we set down to blend. WOW!!!! No doubt about it, this is one great blender. Easy to use, (EVEN after a few margaritas!)
We've now taken to using it with juices, in fact, I'm THRILLED that the teenagers are using it to brew up juice smoothies as adding all that ice cuts down on how much sugar they're consuming! We're so impressed with the unit that we're ordering another for our vacation home.
IF YOU NEED ANOTHER PITCHER OR WANT THE LARGER ICE CONTAINER: I received an upgrade from Frontgate.com. This kit gives you the larger ice container for the top ([..]) and a PLASTIC pitcher. [..] for the upgrade kit, but you still come out ahead since you'll have TWO pitchers and a backup ice container.
- It takes a little dialing in but then...great margaritas
- My sister and I got this for my dad for fathers day. This last weekend we got to try it out.
Ice comes out beautiful. Shaved ice made for perfectly slushy margaritas. I even make the kids sno cones by just hitting the shave only and topping with that syrup you can buy at the store.
Important: Do not use margarita mixes. The thing comes out watery. We use frozen limeade mix. It's relatively cheap and I think the frozen consistency helps make the drink more slushy. You can adjust the amount to your taste. We used over a half can full for a real tart margarita.
Some may have better luck with margarita mix but for us after about 4 tries and each too watery we decided to go with the limeade and it came out great every time.
I love this machine. I am jealous my dad has one and strongly hinted to everyone at the party that this would be a great gift idea for me. Hopefully I'll get one for christmas.
Is it expensive? Of course. Is it a real cool toy? Oh yes!!! It's a monster size unit, but it is so fun to use it became a focal point at the party with everybody standing around talking while we made the drinks. My dad loves it for the ease of use. I love it 'cause I can have margaritas anytime.
- Great machine, but be aware of replacement costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Great machine. It does what it says it will do, albeit VERY loudly. Be aware that the ice shaver blade wears out VERY quickly, and costs over $40 to replace.
- Amazing Margaritaville Machine
- Got my margarita maker, and I love it! Couldn't ask for anything better, would definitely recommend spending the extra money to get a quality product like this, forget the cheap imitations!
- Great Item, Pricey, but works great in our bar!
- Ok, two things. I just read the review from the fella that says he makes lot's of Margarita's, and lives in Texas. He says that it's not much better then a $30 blender. Hmmm. The one I bought for my wife works wonderfully. And it does make the slurpy style Margarita! Not chunky at all!! Me thinks you got a bad one, or you are doing something wrong Tex. I hope you get yours fixed or something, because ours works, great! However, I do agree that if you follow the recipe, as he says, you do get the water downed version. I am presently going to work on that. But I think as he eluded to, you might have to change some ingredients around a bit to get what you want there. More booze, less mix, I don't know. Have to experiment. Can't blame that on the machine. The machine appears to, in my opinion, do exactly what you would expect it to do. The best part is that it isn't a cheap blender. It's a hefty addition to your bar. You won't knock this puppy over. It's solid. That just gives you a good feeling about it right there. It does not take long for it to make it's magic either! We followed the instructions to the letter, and Wham Bam, thank you Mam! Three perfect consistency Margarita's were mixed and ready for us to enjoy. Honest, it worked fine.
I also agreed with the fella that said he laughed when he thought: "Who would buy a $300 blender!" That was me also. After I read his review, well, I bit my lip, paid the dough, and hoped for the best. Well, I am here to tell ya, we are not disappointed in ours. Not one bit. Is it worth $300? I don't think so. That sounds contradictory, I know. Let's face it. $300 bones is a lot to cough up. But if you have an in home bar, or you just want to make great Margaritas and frozen drinks at home, this really is a good item. And $300, is still... a lot of money. I think $200 would be a much fairer price. But I'm a cheapo. (My wife loves her birthday gift, that made all the difference to me!) :-) Get one. You won't regret it.
