- Excellent Machine! The best I've seen!!!
- This Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker DM1000 is the best that I've ever seen. At one point, I seriously considered buying the Island Oasis for $2500, as pricey as that is, just to have a good machine at home for entertaining...but then I found this thing, read all the reviews and figured, why not give it a shot for under $300? I'M SO GLAD I DID!
This thing has a powerful motor, and it's finished drinks are as good as you'll get out of any Island Oasis machine. It truly is dummy-proof and makes a professional bartender out of just about anyone. Follow written drink recipies or create your own. Tripping over your own great recipies is half the fun with this thing!
In the beginning, we though the drinks came out a bit watery, but due to the ice being shaven, then blended, the shaved ice would often melt down a bit, losing a bit of the "slushyness". We found that we ignored a few tips to actually freeze the blender jar (or at least refrigerate it for a while) before making drinks. This way, when the shaven ice hits the jar, it does not instantly start to melt. This is the secret to making a drink with the perfect consistency.
This machine is great at home, and we bought the carrying case for it as well so we can take it with us to our football tailgating parties and everything else. People have seen it in action and now request that we bring it with us to their events. I should start charging a rental fee and make my purchase money back on it!!!
If you don't have one of these...BUY ONE!!! It is great.
- I have only used the product a few times, but I absolutely love it. I am definitely going to buy some to give out as gifts to friends. saw them brand new on ebay for a very good price!
- Our household has bought 3 of these in the past year - two to give as gifts and one I received as an anniversary gift from my husband (best d*** anniversary gift I've received during my 40 years of marriage). The people who have received the Margaritaville Machines are absolutely ga-ga over them and have thanked us profusely. It easy to use and really makes fail-proof Margaritas. My only complaint: I cannot get the ice shaving blade out to examine (for nicks) and to dry. My spouse really got a nasty cut in the process of doing so. So I dry it in situ.
Buy a MM, you won't be sorry. We love ours.
- Want an ADDITIONAL PITCHER & LARGER ICE CONTAINER?????
- We were entertaining and I didn't have time to whip up our usual recipe. A quick search on the net came up with what is apparently the hands down only decent ready-made mix on the market: Dr. Swami & Bone Daddy's Top Shelf Margarita Mix. After fiddling with just how much liquid to ice makes us happy, we set down to blend. WOW!!!! No doubt about it, this is one great blender. Easy to use, (EVEN after a few margaritas!)
We've now taken to using it with juices, in fact, I'm THRILLED that the teenagers are using it to brew up juice smoothies as adding all that ice cuts down on how much sugar they're consuming! We're so impressed with the unit that we're ordering another for our vacation home.
IF YOU NEED ANOTHER PITCHER OR WANT THE LARGER ICE CONTAINER: I received an upgrade from Frontgate.com. This kit gives you the larger ice container for the top ([..]) and a PLASTIC pitcher. [..] for the upgrade kit, but you still come out ahead since you'll have TWO pitchers and a backup ice container.
- Amazing Margaritaville Machine
- Got my margarita maker, and I love it! Couldn't ask for anything better, would definitely recommend spending the extra money to get a quality product like this, forget the cheap imitations!
- Great Item, Pricey, but works great in our bar!
- Ok, two things. I just read the review from the fella that says he makes lot's of Margarita's, and lives in Texas. He says that it's not much better then a $30 blender. Hmmm. The one I bought for my wife works wonderfully. And it does make the slurpy style Margarita! Not chunky at all!! Me thinks you got a bad one, or you are doing something wrong Tex. I hope you get yours fixed or something, because ours works, great! However, I do agree that if you follow the recipe, as he says, you do get the water downed version. I am presently going to work on that. But I think as he eluded to, you might have to change some ingredients around a bit to get what you want there. More booze, less mix, I don't know. Have to experiment. Can't blame that on the machine. The machine appears to, in my opinion, do exactly what you would expect it to do. The best part is that it isn't a cheap blender. It's a hefty addition to your bar. You won't knock this puppy over. It's solid. That just gives you a good feeling about it right there. It does not take long for it to make it's magic either! We followed the instructions to the letter, and Wham Bam, thank you Mam! Three perfect consistency Margarita's were mixed and ready for us to enjoy. Honest, it worked fine.
I also agreed with the fella that said he laughed when he thought: "Who would buy a $300 blender!" That was me also. After I read his review, well, I bit my lip, paid the dough, and hoped for the best. Well, I am here to tell ya, we are not disappointed in ours. Not one bit. Is it worth $300? I don't think so. That sounds contradictory, I know. Let's face it. $300 bones is a lot to cough up. But if you have an in home bar, or you just want to make great Margaritas and frozen drinks at home, this really is a good item. And $300, is still... a lot of money. I think $200 would be a much fairer price. But I'm a cheapo. (My wife loves her birthday gift, that made all the difference to me!) :-) Get one. You won't regret it.
- I just got it so I am trying out recipies. All the recipies call for Margarita or Daquiri Mix along with all the required alcolhol, I want to find the right mix without having to use these high sugar mixes. It is fun playing with it! The product works great and does make the perfect amount of "slush". I would recommend it.
- A great machine to have for your home bar!!
- I just received one of these as a gift from my sister. I was wondering about the quality at first . . . what would it be like, would it work well, etc . . . It was a complete surprise gift so I hadn't done any research. I can tell you from using it that it is REALLY cool! My wife and I set it up for 2 drinks and from the moment I flipped the start switch to pulling the pitcher off of the base to pour drinks only took 30 seconds. That ice shaver really makes all the difference in the world. Making margaritas with a normal blender is a pain even if you have a good one because it takes quite a bit of time to get all of the ice blended and even then there are still chunks that get in the way. With the ice shaver the consistency of these drinks are great!! There were some very, very small chucks but nothing that would hinder a normal drinking straw. We have some insulated glasses that we served them in and the consistency of the drink stayed constant for quite a while. I decided to take a look here on Amazon to read some of the reviews and see if there if there were going to be any problems that I needed to watch for and was very pleasantly surprised to see all the positive feedback. Enough so that I decided to leave my own (which is rare for me)
This is a great buy! It works extremely well and makes great drinks!
- Do you need another "blender?"
- I certainly didn't...but OH NO...a "blender" this is certainly NOT!! It's beautiful outside and we all need a fabulous frozen DRINK! You know the kind like you get `somewhere else' that you can't seem to replicate at home! Not anymore... I just got the Margaritaville Frozen concoction maker and LOVE it! I realized as I enjoyed the first sip of my blueberry-lime cocktail, I had to make sure everyone I know gets one of these makers for themselves. No household should be without a device that will create such awesome treats! You deserve it. It's super easy to use (I admit, I didn't even read the instructions)...just fill it with ice up top and add in fruit and whatever your drink of choice is in the blender part and away you go. Instant gratification! The machine comes with a Margaritville shot glass, a tin for salt to rim your glass, and coasters - who could ask for anything more? (Except maybe a bottle of tequila). It's light-weight enough to move around so we just took it outside and shave/blended up summer drinks for the neighbors. I could go on and on about the fabulous-ness that is my new Concoction Maker but you really should find out for yourself - don't let this summer pass you buy - get one!
- This machine is too cool. All I can say is that this is gonna be a great summer. The drinks are very easy to make, and they go down even easier :)

- If you make lots of Margaritas, READ THIS
- As a caveat, I make a lot of margaritas...frozen and on the rocks. I live in TX, and we generally make the margaritas a bit on the strong side.
I plugged this machine in and got started (which was easy to do) and quickly realized:
1. Using a liquid margarita mix and tequila and other ingredients, per the instruction manual, the machine makes a very watery and weak margarita. The problem is when you use a liquid mix, which already contains water, and then add shaved ice to it, you get something really watered down. This was the case using their recommended recipe and default settings for an easy 1,2 or 3 serving margarita.
2. The shaved and blended ice, using the default 'blend & shave' setting is very chippy and lumpy...it is NOT a smooth slurpee-like ice mixture. It's more like what you would get from your run-of-the-mill $30 blender. You can manually shave and blend the ice more than the default setting, and that makes it a bit smoother, but you can also do that with a standard blender.
3. To get a stronger flavor, you can use a frozen concentrate (like a Bacardi mixer), but what you'll end up with is almost exactly the same in taste and consistency that you would get from a standard blender.
Overall, I was very disappointed in the product -- expecting something much easier than my regular blender, and with much superior quality margaritas. Unfortunately, I don't think it delivered on either account.
- Stop...Do not BUY this product without reading this review
- I bought this machine a month ago with so much excitement and anticipation. When it arrived, my husband and I immediately took it out and went to the store to get supplies to make a great Margarita. When we made the drink, it was horrible....instead of shaved ice as the advertisement states, it made balls of sleet and chunks of ice. The margarita's it made were not drinkable as they had an oily taste as well. We packed up the machine and wrote a letter to the president of company - Cooks Plus, Hilton Head, SC, and got pitiful customer service. He refused to stand behind the machine or take it back. After repeated phone calls it is now up to me to continue wasting my time by other means to try to get my money back for a product that totally does not work. I highly recommend that you do not buy this machine and if you do, it is not through this resource of Amazon.

- Now That's a Good Margarita!
- Well - I finally broke down and purchased this frozen drink maker - and we LOVE it. Several years ago, we rented a commercial model for a party we had at our house. It was a big hit, so I thought I'd buy one. I was shocked at the price, however - about $1000 and up. I gave up.
A few months ago, however, I saw this one and we broke down and purchased it after looking it over for way too long. Well - let me tell you, it makes very good frozen drinks. I mean very good. The drinks have a great texture (I was worried about ice chunks) and once I got the recipe down - a great tase. Still at about $250, it is expensive.
Note that this unit doesnt make ice - you add ice to the top, the unit shaves the ice and adds it into the blender. Then the blender automatically runs and blends whatever ingredients you've added into a perfectly smooth and icey blend.
So - at $250 it is expensive, but I think it is well worth it.

- It takes a little dialing in but then...great margaritas
- My sister and I got this for my dad for fathers day. This last weekend we got to try it out.
Ice comes out beautiful. Shaved ice made for perfectly slushy margaritas. I even make the kids sno cones by just hitting the shave only and topping with that syrup you can buy at the store.
Important: Do not use margarita mixes. The thing comes out watery. We use frozen limeade mix. It's relatively cheap and I think the frozen consistency helps make the drink more slushy. You can adjust the amount to your taste. We used over a half can full for a real tart margarita.
Some may have better luck with margarita mix but for us after about 4 tries and each too watery we decided to go with the limeade and it came out great every time.
I love this machine. I am jealous my dad has one and strongly hinted to everyone at the party that this would be a great gift idea for me. Hopefully I'll get one for christmas.
Is it expensive? Of course. Is it a real cool toy? Oh yes!!! It's a monster size unit, but it is so fun to use it became a focal point at the party with everybody standing around talking while we made the drinks. My dad loves it for the ease of use. I love it 'cause I can have margaritas anytime.
- Great machine, but be aware of replacement costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Great machine. It does what it says it will do, albeit VERY loudly. Be aware that the ice shaver blade wears out VERY quickly, and costs over $40 to replace.
