- Surprisingly features for the price
- I expected a simple knock-about camera for snaps, what I got what a surprisingly sophisticated strong featured camera. Not easy to learn all the features but you can just click away in the simplest mode with no worry.
I won't repeat the excellent reviews of the features above except for one fine feature: You can even take three pictures in quick succession with 1/3 EV underexposed, one normal and one 1/3 EV over exposed. This means you can select the best exposure and/or make a High Dynamic Range (HDR) image. Something only easily done with cameras at $500-700. I even tried it with an infrared filter and it did a very credible job.
If this camera holds up it'll be, by far. my most used and most favored daily camera!
We'll.... it didn't hold up! After using it for a week the internal SD memory card holder latch broke and now you have to hold both the batteries and the card down while carefully closing the battery door. Still works well but soon the battery door hinge will break and then it's goodbye camera.
All in all it is a good came to have someone learn extra features and you don't have to worry handing it around at a wedding party.
- Great camera..the only thing I had a problem with was the memory cards. I tried a Kingston 1gb and Transcend 4gb and didnt work. I tried a Sandisk 2gb it worked. Camera is easy to use and has a lot of features.
- I got this camera as a back-up and WOW! This camera does what my $300 camera does and I mean everything!! Amazingly, it uses much less battery power too. It is still on max power after 40 pictures with flash! But get this: It is under $100.00!! This is a ***** buy!
- This is a great camera for someone who only wants to take pics for their own enjoyment. If I was a pro I don't think this would the camera of choice. For me I just wanted I could take to birthday parties, golfing, etc., and wouldn't be scared if I lost it or broke it. With that said, it still takes great pictures easily. Good camera and good price thanks amazon.
- Best camera I have ever seen for the price. At 7 Mpix the pictures are sharp and clear as a bell. The camera is easy to use and hold with my big hands. The menu is logical and easy to follow. It has more features of any camera under $200 that I have seen.
The variable timer is easy to set and use. The flash flashes twice in red eye mode to eliminate the red eye effect. There are 5 flash features and off. The LCD is sharp and clear with a square in center for aiming. There are indicator icons around the edges depending on options set... There are more options than I am familiar with.
It uses two AA batteries with an indicator of charge. You can use rechargeables and the camera has a power setting for the different battery types.
The camera does video and sound recordings. It has a SD slot that is easy to get to. I bought a 2 GIG for my camera. Many many pictures... You can set the pixel density of pictures to increase or decrease picture quality. There is 16MB internal memory. When the SD card is in all pictures automatically go to card.
The camera has a 3X zoom plus a 4X electronic zoom. This give a total zoom of 12X, works great...
The picture editor can recenter and crop the picture. Really neat feature... Also you can set the Digital Print Order Format (DPOF) for printing and the number of copies. I have never seen this feature on a camera before...
Plus you can use your own picture when the camera boots up. Neat but not necessary. Also, It has a burst shutter select. You can take continuous pics without using the snap button... The snap button is a different shape than the other buttons and is easy to find without looking... Half down previews pic, full down take picture...
There are more features than I have mentioned. This is a truly remarkable camera. It is well made and solid as a rock. It fits in my shirt pocket, neat.. The camera comes with a USB cable, nice case, two AA batteries (good ones).
Also, a CD with a picture editor and a carry strap... Plus a cable that will plug the camera into a TV set so you can play your videos... Never seen that before...
Power consumption seems no worse than most cameras this size. I haven't had it long enough for a reliability check but I believe that won't be an issue... Instruction book is very well done and easy to read... The camera is not a camera for kids. It is much too complex. For a gadgeteer like me it is super...
This camera is a keeper!!!
- excellent product and service...the camera came on time and in mint condition.although it lacked the stabilization feature,i tried taking a couple of shots while im intentionally shaking my hands a little bit.and amazingly,it still came out clear.the camera has a ton of features built in.the audio feature while taking videos, although not professionally excellent,is still good.besides, wat do u expect from a digicam...but still the downside is the kinda sensitive lock for holding the batteries and memory card in place.if you're the type who tends to take the camera covers for granted,ur likely to break this one in a few months time...overall,highly recommended considering the value u get for the money ull spend for it...
- Amazing little camera for the price!!!
- I've had this camera for several weeks now. It is very easy to use. It's small and light weight. The lcd screen is a nice size and very clear. This camera makes very nice clear pictures. If you're not a technical person(like me) and want a nice easy to use camera that's easy on the budget, this is it!
- Just bought this camera and received it today. After playing around with it for a few minutes to figure everything out I was quite satisfied. My only complaint would be that the manual is not the best written I have seen. It tends to have you jumping from page to page during instructions as opposed to listing every step easilly. The camera also included a 1 gig AVorcent SD card. I didn't realize that when I ordered it so had bought another Kingston which works in the camera as well. The cards work fine. I tok several pictures indoors and out and also with the timer. Beautiful. The zoom and macro functions work great as well as several settings that can be used pre and post capture. Overall I would say this an excellent little camera, especially at only $66. It's features rival many at higher prices. I also used the usb cable (no need for drivers on Vista) and transferred the pics easilly. You can also convert the pictures from within the camera for email, printing, etc. Again, my only complaint is the manual is a little sporadic in instructios, but if you read all of it you can grasp the camera functions fairly quick.
- Excellent purchase. I got it for my 5 year old and still the pictures are great. No shake element even though she seems to shake it when she clicks. Large LCD screen, great resolution. Free SD card from amazon, I am going to buy another one for my MIL who is digital camera wary. Great point and click camera, no unecessary frills. Strongly recommend.
- I love this little camera! I haven't even opened the manual yet and I was taking pix and vids right out of the box. The on-screen icon help feature is awesome. It takes really clear pictures and video also. The large scratch-resistant screen is clear and you can see your images very well. I would totally recommend this camera for anyone wanting an affordable, feature-packed digital camera that's extremely easy to use.

- Buyer Beware on this one, that's for sure! Trusted other reviewers opinions and maybe they have had a better experience with this camera. Just purchased it 4 months ago, and it does take great pictures once you get the hang of the shake, however, 3 weeks ago the free memory card stopped working and I had to go buy another one. Two days ago, the camera stopped working completely for no apparent reason at all. My e-mails to Norcent go unanswered, and of course there is no 800 number to call, only a long distance number. On their website, FAQ's are "currently under construction" and just try to register your warranty; you will get an error message. On top of it all, their website tried to install a Trojan on my computer!! Can't imagine what dummies gave these people product awards. I probably may have as well threw $99.00 down the drain. Not such a great deal after all is it?
- Very bad experience with DCC 725 and can't get refund
- I got the DCC-725 last week. I tried using it. The pictures I took won't come out in a readable format. I went to the Norcent web page and there is no information listed for the DCC-725. I went to their support area of the web site which is "currently under construction." I tried to get the 30 day money back guarantee from Amazon and directed to a series of pages that make it difficult, to impossible, to get a timely refund. I rarely return an item but Amazon used to make it easy. Now they don't. That might be more of an Amazon issue but the problem would not have come up if Norcent had sent a camera that worked or made it easy to figure out what is wrong with it.
It was inexpensive but it was $99 down the drain. I'm probably going to throw it in the trash and buy another camera from a known brand. I trusted the Amazon reviews and got burned on this one.
- I was nt that impresssed with the contrast, but for the price It gives you what you want

- Bought 3 of these recently, one for my wife and 1 for each of my daughters. They love the ease of use, and the fact that most shots just come out good.
Only issue seems to be getting clear shots while zoomed in. It seems that MOST of those shots are blurry and I suspect a tripod or a steadier hand is needed.
For the money, you just couldn't ask for a better camera.
- Fantastic if you don't get a Lemon
- I was looking for a digital camera (my first - yeah, I'm a bit of a luddite) and didn't want to drop a lot of money on something I wasn't sure if I was going to like/use. I selected this model primarily based on the price and the mostly good reviews. It seems like you either love or hate this camera, and if you hate it, it's because you got a defective camera and Norcent has no customer service to speak of. With that in mind, I bought the camera knowing it would be a bit of a crap shoot. Fortunately I'm one of the 90% who got a fully functional camera and I'm very satisfied with it; it's very easy to use even for a novice, and still has a ton of features I haven't yet explored. I'd cautiously recommend it as long as you can stand a little risk.

- Decent for features. Excellent for Value
- I bought this camera about 6 months ago and at first glance, was amazed that a 7 MP camera could be so cheap. Pictures turn out crisp for the most part, videos very good, and the audio recording feature has come in handy. But within the first couple of weeks, I noticed a few problems. Some, I have found ways around, others, I have not.
First, the camera takes lousy pictures without the flash or at night. This became very frustrating and so I messed around with the settings. I have found that the best way to solve this is to change the ISO to 400 and then turn the flash off. Granted, you still have to keep the camera steady but at least not so steady that you need a tripod and absolute stillness.
Second, audio in both video and the audio recording settings is very low. No real solution for this but thats not a huge issue. I use it for videos on youtube and I just let people know that it is low and for them to turn their speakers up.
The last "big" issue is that the time between the shutter button being pushed and the actual picture being taken is slow. What I have started doing is pressing the shutter button halfway down before I take the picture and have it pre-focus (indicated by two green brackets in the center of the screen) and then, when everyone or everything is ready, snapping the pic. This speeds it up a lot. In fact, at the Daytona 500, I was able to snap a picture of the side of a racecar going 190mph from 20 feet away.
One tip, the camera's internal memory is pretty much nonexistent so I recommend a 2 GB SD card. This holds close to 500 pictures or 30 minutes of video.
Overall, a good camera for the price. Comparable models are at least $110. If you are looking for superior quality, this is not it, but for just your everyday, point and shoot, soccer game, sight seeing camera, this is the one for you.
- Norcent DCC-725 7.0MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom
- I love this camera, the only problem is I never get to use it! My husband takes it with him where ever he goes! The pictures are beautifully clear! Great camera for the price!
