- Do alot of laundry? The Rowenta DG5030 Pressure Iron and Steamer is designed for a busy family looking to get the most efficiency from an iron. Let's face it, nobody really enjoys ironing. This model makes it easier. The powerful vertical steam option allows the iron to be used in an upright position to remove wrinkles from hanging garments, including curtains, drapes and slipcovers. The steamer has variable steam control so output levels can be adjusted to fabric type. It has a ergonomic trigger for immediate powerful steam. The steam is distributed through a 6 foot long steam cord for optimal versatility. The water capacity is extra large, at 33-ounces., for up to 1.5 hours of uninterrupted use. A 12 foot long electrical cord provides greater convenience and the compact base fits most ironing boards. Nonstick, stainless-steel soleplate seems to glide without friction over fabrics. Iron rest for convenient storage of iron during use, secured position during transport Variable Steam Control lets you adjust steam to output to fabric types, powerful steam for thick, heavy fabrics or light steam for delicate fabrics 9 foot long steam cord for versatility

- This iron is perfect for my purposes - quilting. My only reservation is that there should be a see thru window to determine how much water is in the tank. Other than that, I think it's great.
- When one spends around $150 for a steam iron, chances are it will help you lower your dry-cleaning bills.. and this one surely has done that for us
- This the second steam iron I have gotten and although I liked the use of the first one I spent all my time filling it and could only iron maybe two pices and then had to shut down and fill it again. Now I fill the tank and my Rowenta iron not only irons as well but it will iron for an hour which is usually all my ironing for one day before I have to shut down and refill it. I love my iron and will continue to bye and use this product and my new iron was considerably less expensive than the first one I bought. I am a nurse and I iron all my uniforms. Now I look forward to doing them instead of dreding the chore. Thanks
- This is the 3rd of these irons that I have purchased over the years, each for different locations. They are simply wonderful! An absolute necessity for the daily ironer!
- I iron every week for my uniforms(US Navy) and my husband's work clothes. I would be in the laundry room for hours using a regular iron...with the Rowenta I can iron 12 pieces of clothes in 30 minutes!!!!!!! Furthermore, my wonderful husband decided to buy 100% cotton shirts which could never be ironed with a regular iron.... I am finally saving money from dropping them off at the dry cleaners. This is the best investment if you want to save time and avoid the stress of ironing over and over with a regular iron. I used to dread ironing..not anymore...this thing is amazing!
- Rowenta DG5030 Pressure Iron and Steamer
- Having used a professional iron for many years with an automatic drip bottle, this was a big change for me. I liked the features and affordability. It does a nice job. What I don't like is that I run out of water for steam if I'm doing a lot of ironing, whether it is household items or sewing projects. Note that I think nothing of spending a few hours in my sewing room working on things and ironing laundry as well.
- I ordered this after reading all of the great reviews and was not dissappointed. I work with all kinds of fabric and this iron smooths out the worst wrinkles quick. Its large resevoir gives me plenty of work time and the length of hose is perfect for my sewing room layout.
- Great iron if you know how to use it.
- I have a more expensive professional system which was being serviced when I bought the DG5030. I was disappointed at first because a lot of water was coming through when I would begin to iron and press the steam button. This happened no matter how long I let the unit pre-heat. I finally realized that there was condensation in the hose. By purging the hose for about 15-20 seconds I was able to eleminate the water and wetting of what was being ironed. That problem solved this unit is every bit as good as my Professional system which costs almost ten times as much. My only question now is will it hold up to a lot of ironing which goes on in my large household.
- Its an amazing product! I used to hate ironing but now I sort of look forward to it:)
This steamer has cut my ironing time by at least one third. The clothes look great too.
On the flip side: You have to wait till it gets really hot or you may have some sprinkle of water on your clothes.
- I wear a lot of linen fabrics in the warmer months of the year, and this steam iron makes ironing a breeze; it is quick and easy. I have not tried it as a steamer yet but I am sure it will do an excellent job of that also. Kudos to Rowenta!

VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! This is the 3rd Rowenta steam generator iron I have purchased (5th Rowenta iron I have owned) and the quality and craftsmanship of the Rowenta product I am sorry to say is poor. My last steam generator only lasted 2 years (on/off switch stopped working); I had the first steam generator for 4 1/2 years. Anyway, this newer model does not have a see-thru, removable water container which was great because you could continuously refill the iron. In this recent model you don't know when you will run out of water and when you do you have to stop ironing and let it cool down before the boiler can be opened and re-filled. I am a male and I find the housing/boiler too heavy and bulky to empty the water out when done ironing. No matter how hard I try I never get the water out of the boiler completely--which I believe may rust the boiler.
The worst problem with this iron is that it spits (squirts) water out heavily while ironing...I have tried various settings to get it to stop. Water spotting on clothing is a big problem. I have a $19.00 Black & Decker steam iron that works better than this Rowenta steam generator iron.
I don't recommend this product, it is not worth the money paid...and I am in the process of reviewing some more expensive Japanese and Italian manufactured steam generator irons. Rowenta has lost this valued customer.
- Terrible Customer Service at Rowenta
- DO NOT BUY A ROWENTA. Look at RELIABLE OR DELONGI. We have purchased 4 Rowenta irons for ourselves and as gifts. We recently had ours have a defective cord that burned my wife's hand. The customer service team not only did not repair the shorted cord, they sent the iron back to me in totally inoperable conditions. Buyers BEWARE, their service team is rude and totally insensitive. I own my own business and would bend over backwards to keep a customer, not these clowns.
- I purchased this to use primarily as a vertical garment steamer. Totally does not work. As a regular iron it is maybe a little better than the regular iron I have. I returned the product. It does not perform as advertised.
- Rowenta Pressure Iron Steamer
- Too heavy and bulky and our product did not work properly and had to be returned.
- Works great until..............
- Got this iron as a gift in September 2007 and returned it in December 2007. Yes when it works its fantastic but the washer on the boiler plug/tap (where you pour the water in - the bit that screws into that) kept disintegrating. I first contacted Rowenta and they were happy to send me more washers but advised I get a few as it was a known problem.
With angst I returned it to the store because when it was working it really was wonderful and coming from the UK where there are many many choices of steam generating irons and here - not so much it was a tough call but it wasn't working and Rowenta didn't advise me keeping it!. I'm now looking at the Reliable 450A - anyone got any experience let me know.
- I have used a Rowenta Steam Generator Iron for 3 years and loved every minute of it. Then one day it stopped generating steam. I felt like it was such a good investment that I decided I would get Rowenta again. What a disappointment. The 5030 doesn't have a detachable water container. It drips and spits everytime I use it no matter the temp. It sits high and isn't nearly as stable on the ironing board. When I needed to add water ( I was assuming because there is no way to know for sure) I followed instructions and let the steam out of the generator by hitting the steam button on the iron until there was no steam, then I opened the generator and poured in water. A gyser like explosion happened and hot water went everywhere. I am back in the market for a steam generator. Rowenta made a huge mistake when they got rid of the other model and added the 5030 to their line.
- Another honest Assestment
- Three years ago My 70 year old mom called after 6 months from purchase saying the DG980 was broke. I was surprised and disappointed seeing my mom resorting back to her dated iron. After two years of delays and stalling on my part. I purchased her another Iron DG5030 system an upgrade made in China this past Christmas (2007). Did i write upgrade? What an oxymoron!!
The so-called broken iron turned out to be a maintenance problem. My mom is old school uses lots of starch when she irons EVERYDAY. It seems my 73 year old mom didn't follow the directions about flushing out the boiler. I always wanted a Rowenta expert but couldn't justify paying $250.00 retail at Macy's back then. I thought about calling my mom and informing her about her gaff but then I didn't want to make her feel bad. She will never know far as I'm concern.
I called Rowenta customer service on January 9, 2008 and spoke with the nicest woman from the USA. Go figure! Great news she understood me, no language barrier. I applaud Rowenta for creating a masterpiece with the DG980 made in France. (Not in China.) We didn't have to worry about lead recalls from China. However I did ask the fine lady at customer support about the current DG5030 model in discussion here. She expressed the party line about quality checks and all that. I guess Mattel and Toy's-R-US quality checks didn't work. I'm not suggesting anyone shouldn't purchase anything from China but I shy away ever so often these days for that reason. What is that? LEAD!
She told me that she is often asked about Rowenta bringing back the DG980 since several of the people on their blogs have suggested owning several iron systems this has peaked my interest. One question before continuing, why is this the case? Why are clients asking? Why aren't they LISTENING? Everyone knows the quality of the DG980 and the current model DG5030 are not created the same. After seeing them side by side I hardly agree with that assessment. Something is amiss!
I purchased both systems DG980 now DG5030 to be a lifetime purchase for my mom. I don't want to replace an iron similar to my cell phone due to better features and functionality. How many ways can you iron a wrinkle out? I wonder since it's being made in China about the durability factor as well, leaks and plastic density issues. I guess having your product made with cheaper plastic isn't a quality goal. It appears the driving force in rejecting their client's sentiments towards the original quality benchmarkd have been subplanted with a price point of $140.00 verse $250.00. You can sell a lot more this way she explained. What the hell if the DG5030 breaks down I can afford to purchase another one when my mom is 80 years old.
Overall, the iron is an awesome concept. I'm currently looking at purchasing the ironing board for Mothers Day. I can't speak about the quality of the China made DG5030 my mom is using. The lingering possibility that a country bent on sending lead products here and getting offended because we have the nerve to protest is still a possibility that anyone with children should really take note. Rowenta has compromise in that they have taken that route for profits in my opinion. The Good news is they STILL for now have a top notch customer service planted in the USA. I know you are probally wondering If was feeling this why did I purchase the DG5030? I didn't realize it until I already had presented to my mom for Christmas.
You don't have to find out after the fact like I did. You can choose knowing up front the possibilities.
- My second DG5030 has just failed after two years. The first one just about made it to that. I have four children so the iron is on every day but even so i think it should have lasted a little longer.
I read what everyone said about the spitting water. Both my irons had this problem and it is an issue that you cannot fix no matter how careful you are about what kind of water you use and how often you clean etc.
I want to buy another iron but i am reluctant to buy another one of these - i will keep looking.
- The reviews sounded great. The product seemed great. The problem is that the quality control is anything but great. Twice, the thermostats were defective, which was perhaps why the iron kept spitting -- at one point ruining my wife's linen jacket with water spots.
It's true that the iron delivers copious amounts of steam. Should you happen to get one that holds the temperature and doesn't spit -- and if you like your ironing device BIG -- you may well love it. But for me, it was just not worth the effort.

- Once you get it going, your shirts will look twice as good in half the time, every time..
I wish it had a water level indicator though. I'm constantly putting too much water in, or running out of water earlier than I expected (and you can't re-fill it when it's hot).
