- I am a true fan of the Rowenta iron, love them so much that I won't buy anything lesser. I am a happy owner of the Rowenta Professional and now own the Advancer. I am an advocate of neatly pressed clothes and both the Professional and Advancer give the feel of a solid, heavy iron that will do the job of keeping your clothes looking their best. Go Rowenta.
- This baby is the best iron we've owned, well worth the cost. Remember DO NOT use distilled water. We just use bottled spring water.
It's well-engineered in all respects and makes ironing less work.
- This is my third Rowenta and because of all the steam vents, this iron is the greatest. I also use it to steam materials that may be damaged by irons. It is a wonderful iron, and I like the fact I can use the water from our R/O instead of any special type water. Well worth the money!!!
- Excellent 'Tool' for the job
- This is an excellent iron. It heats up extremely fast, stays hot while in use, has consistent steam output and has a large water tank to minimize the number of refills. For as much as I don't like ironing, even I can admit that this has made the job easier.
- Some say that they have a problem with the auto shutoff feature, I don't know because I always turn appliances 'off' when I'm done. This is an excellent iron to use. I love the sole plate size, the pressing weight, and the large water capicity, as well, it uses regular faucet water.
- Rowenta DZ9080 Advancer Iron
- Absolutely awesome iron. The vertical steam feature is 'dangerous' if you don't watch where you put your hand...it's hot! Vertical press only works if you have some tension on the fabric you are steaming, for example, I use it to steam the creases out of the back of my suit coats. You have to have some weight hanging from the back of the coat for it to be fully pressed(like my hand I nearly broiled the first couple times I did this). The iron is smooth, heats up fast, is easy to use, and puts a really, really sharp crease in my shirt sleeves and slacks. We've been using it daily for a month now and it doesn't leak. It does go thru a lot a water with the steam features, but that should be expected. I thought it was a lot of money for an iron, but after buying multiple $30-$50 irons it has been a good investment. My wife who does the majority of the ironing around here says it is everything an iron should be. Always trying to keep her happy, and this was worth it.
- The Rowenta Iron is fabulous. Takes care of all of my ironing needs. A bit heavy, but amazing German engineering.
- I am now convinced that the iron is worth the price. It is much faster, and gives a better wrinkle free result.
I Highly recommend this Iron!
- Hands down...best ever steam iron!! A+++
- I would usually never consider spending this much on an iron. But since our last two irons (supposedly good brands) broke down on us within a year, I gave in and purchased this iron based on the rave reviews.
I'm not one to be excited over an iron, but this iron gives much to be excited about! First, my iron heats up in literally 5-10 seconds. Wow, super fast! Next, this is one solid iron, and it feels good in your hand. It may seem heavy at first, but it's so evenly balanced that the weight doesn't deter. In fact, it helps to press the clothes even better. The iron glides effortlessly over my clothes and doesn't snag. And don't get me started about the steam. Those 400+ steam holes do their job 10x's over. I love it! My ironing time has been cut in half because this iron does such an EXCELLENT job.
The first time I used the iron, I tested it on my heavy denim jacket that's been sitting in my closet for months that I refused to wear because my other iron couldn't get rid of the wrinkles. This iron tackled it in no time flat - pressing out those stubborn wrinkles like nothing. It was like I first bought it new. It did such a great job on that, I decided to test it out on another piece of clothing with even more stubborn wrinkles, and no problem there either. SOLD! I actually enjoy ironing now. Read the instructions carefully and use as directed. I can't say enough about it. I love my DZ9080. Rowenta irons are now the ONLY brand of iron I will purchase from now on. Why did I never buy this brand sooner?
- A hardest decision to make
- It was one of the hardest and most time- consuming decisions I had to make! NO REGRET. Superb item. I am of small stature so the described bulkiness and weight of the iron were deterring for a long time. But since I wanted an item of high quality and from all I have read so far on this Rowenta item, I took a leap of faith. NO REGRET, it's an excellent product and is not what you think, ladies! It is surpisingly better than what is being reviewed. The weight of the iron is well distributed throughout which makes ironing a pleasure. The pointy "dolphin nose " of the iron is a great feature, it navigates very smoothly into the hard shoulders and collar areas of a man's shirt and makes ironing dainty ladies shirts very easy. The steam feature is excellent and cuts back on the time you'll need to spend. I am very very happy with the purchase. I would highly recommend it if price is not an issue. It is a good investment.

- Purchased this high priced iron based upon a recommendation that Rowenta irons are the best. Hogwash, this unit broke within the manufacturers 1 year warranty and Rowenta is hard to deal with at best. Turns out the thermostat breaks on this unit quite frequently per Rowenta and you must return on your dime to a service center for repair. No estimated time of replacement, and because of the need for an iron in most families another unit is now needed. Wont be another Rowenta, and I highly suggest looking at a well optioned Shark or Procter unit that costs considerably less and rated better. Irons should be designed to last more than one year, especially in normal household setting. Very disappointed !
- I odered the DZ9080 but received a lesser Rowenta product packaged in a DZ9080 containeer. Returned the item and received full refund minus the shipping costs. Have subsequently purchased a DZ9080 locally and like it.
- DO NOT BUY THIS IRON!!! Auto shut off never worked and the first iron quit heating in two weeks. I returned it and got another one and the same thing happened within a few weeks. Like other posters here have said Rowenta has terrible customer service.
- DEFECTIVE 3 TIMES...DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!
- I was looking for a high quality iron when a friend told me that Rowenta made the best. I bought the Advancer iron brought it home and the auto-shut off would not work. I took the iron back and got a second iron and it would not even heat up so against my better judgement, I took it back and got a third Advancer. The iron worked wonderfully for about 2 months, now it leaks water everywhere. I contacted Rowenta and they said even though I had purchased 3 bad irons in as many months there were not going to give me my money back under no circumstances. They would however replace it. I DONT WANT IT! They even had the incident numbers as proof that I had problems with the first two. DO NOT BUY THIS IRON!
- I am in the process of returning this iron...again. On the first iron, the auto shutoff didn't work which I could have lived with, but then it developed problems turning on - it took at least 10 minutes before it turned on properly. I exchanged it for another DZ9080 because, when it works properly, it's amazingly good. The 2nd one again had the same auto shutoff problem where sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't which, again, wasn't a dealbreaker but now it's developed a leak when it gets hot and spews hot water over whatever I'm ironing (and sometimes my hand.) That's unacceptable and this time when I return it, I will replace it with something else entirely. I would caution anyone against buying this particular iron.
- I have had a terrible experience with this iron and I see many others have had similar problems. I had to send it back for repairs only one month after I bought it. It over-heated, melted the fabric, started smoking, and was obviously not usable. I wanted a replacement because it was so new, but Rowenta refused. I should have just sent it back for a refund and then started over again. Their repair service keeps it for 30 days before they even begin to repair it. The repair shop was quite rude when I called to check on it after 3 weeks...as if I was annoying them. They never even notified me that they received it. After spending $130 on the iron, I had expected a better customer service from a company that is supposed to carry a quality product. WRONG! I sent it using UPS two day (they don't pay the cost of returns/repairs even if under warranty) After 31 days, they returned it by regular mail...took 3 more weeks to arrive. I was really annoyed.
Last night (3 weeks after repair) it over heated again, worse than before. I had to run it outside and it burned for nearly an hour, pouring out smoke and reeking of burning plastic. I thought it was going to burst into flames. Called Rowenta this morning, they still won't replace it! They want me to once again send it in for repairs AT MY EXPENSE!!! I live in Hawaii so shipping is quite expensive. I asked to speak with a manager (as I did before). He was "not available" and he is supposed to call me back. Its been 2 hours, no call. I will be calling the Better Business Bureau next.
Please read all 1,2, and 3 star reviews. This is not a new problem. Something is seriously wrong with this product. It is also a really, really heavy and cumbersome iron. You slso have to fill it with water after each garment. Very user un-friendly.
Something is seriously wrong with Rowenta. Where is the quality control? What happened to customer service? Save yourself the money and the hassle...buy a cheaper iron.
- Poor Performand and Poor Customer Service
- This product has been a complete disappointment. We wanted a really high quality iron and thought that by paying $130 for one we would be assured of that. We were wrong. After using the iron for one month, we had the same overheating issues that the other reviewers had and then the iron would no longer heat up. We took it to the service center in Oceanside, NY and were told it was the heating element and would take 2 to 3 weeks to repair. After 4 weeks we had not heard anything from the service center and when we called them they said there were still waiting for the part from Rowenta. They said they would not call Rowenta to see when the part was expected to be shipped, but we could call if we wished. The customer service people at Rowenta were quite friendly and apologetic. They said that we would be sent a new iron but it would take 4 to 6 weeks since the iron was being shipped all the way from New Jersey. I live two states away and could walk to NJ and back in less time, but I decided to give it a shot. We just received our "new" iron yesterday. The nose of the iron is completely bent and it is clear that this was not a new iron. Once again I called Rowenta and they said to send it back to them and it would be replaced by a new iron. I am not sure how this is going to all play out, but rest assured it is the last product which I will buy from Rowenta.
- I was loving this iron as well until three days ago when I got the magic redlight and the iron got hotter and hotter and nothing. Will be sending this iron for servicing. Hopefully it won't cost a lot.
2nd rowenta iron I haven't been happy with.
- Although I really liked the iron and its performance for the first 6 months, I am now experiencing a run-around from Rowenta's warranty center after the iron simply stopped heating. The warranty period is one year. I have talked to very friendly people on the phone at Rowenta national, but the actual service center (for the eastern half of the U.S.) does not respond to any communication, even though the national people say I will get a response within 7-10 days after receipt of the iron. They have had my iron for 6 weeks with no response to communication and no satisfaction. Given the poor action on warranty problems, I cannot recommend this iron to anyone. I have now read other reviews and see that my iron did the EXACT same thing as severeal others here: overheated WAY to far (burning things), then stopped heating at all. I suspect there is a design flaw in addition to a service flaw. Perhaps they are swamped with broken irons?!
- Auto Shutoff Didn't work on two irons
- The first iron I received had no documentation (obviously a return) or paperwork and the auto shutoff didn't work. I returned it, and to Amazon's credit, I had a new iron less than 24 hours after I completed the return online. However, the second iron (at least this one had paperwork) the auto shutoff didn't work. After filling out the second return, Amazon said the problem is more widespread than they thought and wouldn't be sending a new iron. Did a refund instead. I will say I liked the iron for what little I got to use it. It is heavy though.

- Heavy but really does the job
- I found it a bit cumbersome trading up from a light weight Black and Decker iron but after I adjusted, I could not be more pleased. I've owned this for several months now and it really does a great job on my frequent ironing jobs. The steam is fantastic and I do not have to refill as much as I did with my old iron. I've not had any leaking which was something the B&D-ers I owned seemed to do a lot of.
- Great Iron, POOR workmanship.
- I got this iron about a year ago, and I have only used it 7-8 times. It is by far the best iron I have ever used to get wrinkles out. The only problem is the quality. On my last use, the plastic heat control knob broke off. You would expect a 100+ dollar iron to have better workmanship, or a better warranty (1 year). Rowenta clearly needs to fix some issues in their factories.
- This is my SECOND Rowenta Advancer iron. It is about my 5th Rowenta iron in the past 20 years. There is just no better iron on this planet. I wouldn't have had to buy this new Advancer if I hadn't knocked my other one off of the ironing board and onto my slate (stone) floor, smashing it into a zillion pieces. My fault...completely!! That may cure me from ironing in front of the TV....or maybe NOT! Amazon had the very best price of all of the places I searched on the internet.
- WARNING!! Leaks like a Sieve
- I feel like I have two ears and a tail because despite that my last Rowenta leaked, I was convinced to buy this outrageously expensive product which has quickly become another defective piece of Rowenta-made junk. This is not a matter of using the iron improperly or a problem with the water. I've always used city tap water in it. The water leaks right out of the bottom of the iron! And I'm not talking about a few drops here and there. I'm talking about large amounts of water that leave large water marks. It literally drips/runs out the bottom of the iron (the heel, not the sole plate). No, it's never been dropped or damaged in any way. Of course this happened right after my warranty ran out. This company is now on my no-buy list. I will never, ever again buy another Rowenta anything after having wasted so much money on their irons already.
- My wife has owned Rowenta irons previously, and insisted on purchasing another. She loves this iron with it's many features. It does everything except move itself. My obversation: the only way to totally shut it off is to pull the plug. The bottom line: you do get what you pay for. If you want and need the best, look no further. This is your iron.
- The Best Iron I have ever owned
- I have been ironing for 31 years now (gee how time flies when you are having fun!), and this is by far the best iron I have ever owned. I have gone from owning dime store irons, to department store irons; and now this, the Cadillac of irons! It is definitely worth the money. I was spoiled on my T-Fall iron, but the steamer on it went out within 6 months but since it was a heavy weight iron I held onto it for 10 years. Then I was browsing the Amazon website and read up on the Rowenta irons. Since I use extremely heavy starch in my shirts (Sta-Flo), the T-Fall iron couldn't handle the starched in wrinkles my shirts had (since I would dip them and hang them up to dry); but this Rowenta iron gets the wrinkles out perfectly with 1-2 passes over each area. It actually makes this dreadful chore a little easier.
- I consider myself an ironing aficionado.(I even re-iron my dry cleaning), and I must say this is the best iron I have ever owned. Don't worry about the extra weight of this iron, with all its steam vents, it literally guilds over the fabric. It works as well on difficult fabrics such as linen and equally as well on silk. Just buy it! It's worth the exrta money.
- When I bought the Black and Decker 2030 based on recommendations on this site, I was hoping that it would perform better than my 17 year old Norelco 725 steam iron which required that I spray the garment with water before ironing to get a good press. But when I compared the two (with the both on the highest steam setting), making a single slow pass over a linen shirt, the Norelco actually did better! The B&D burst of steam was impressive, but it wasn't enough to remove the wrinkles on its own. The B&D has its steam holes around the perimeter, leading me to try out the Rowenta DZ9080 which has them distributed more evenly. It has a larger plate and looks great. But using the same test, the Rowenta was the poorest performer. The Rowenta did have the best, finest, water spray. But like the B&D's, the Rowenta spray points straight ahead; you have to lift and tilt the iron down to spray the item, which then causes an unnecessary burst of steam.
- I am very disillusioned with the concept buying a high end iron, especially a Rowenta iron. It just quit heating completely and suddenly within only 2 years of purchase. I was very pleased with the steaming ability of this iron and expected, at this over $100 price point, it would last a very long time. My cheap Black and Decker iron is still going strong after 10+ years! Of course, there is no local repair facilitiy in the Sacramento area. The nearest Rowenta repair facility in in the San Francsico Bay area. My calls to Rowenta consumer "Service" were unsatisfying. All they would do is send me a $15 gift certificate for toward the purchase of a new Rowenta iron!! Why would I continue to be a Rowenta customer???
- THIS IS THE WORST IRON I HAVE EVER PURCHASED. I ALSO BOUGHT A SECOND ONE THINKING THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WAS A FLUKE BUT IT IS NOT. WILL NOT HEAT UP AFTER 4 MONTHS OF USE AND THE AUTO CUTOFF QUIT WORKING 2ND MONTH. BEWARE, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL.
