- I absolutely love this game!! I have played all the games in the Paper Mario series, and this one is just as good as the others. It will have you enjoying yourself, scratching your head in confusion, and absolutely laughing out loud. The gameplay is easy to get used to, the storyline lovely (how does Nintendo keep coming up with storylines!? You'd think they'd run out of ideas), and the text part of the game is clever. When I say laughing out loud I mean it too, there are some puns and some parts are just plain silly. This game uses the Wii remote, maybe not as much as some games but it lets you interact more than you would usually be able to in your average video game. All of the Paper Mario games have kept me entertained for hours, I highly recommend all of them and especially this one!!
- good game for ppl who can't really play 3D games like me. good starting point to get used to playing in 3D. can be long if you don't use the walk through. overall, great and addictive game.
- I agree with other posters that there is a lot to read in this game; however, it's an excellent game and getting through the reading material is fun and has an intriguing storyline. If you're looking for something that reminds you of the old console but adds a new, innovative twist; then this is the game for you.
- I purchased this game after going through so many games that seemed to be nothing more than a flop for me. And I am pleasantly surprised! The graphics are amazing, the storyline is interesting and the concept is easy to understand. Even my 5 year old is enjoying it. There are a few points where he needs assistance, but other than that he's enjoying it just as much as I am. Even my husband finds himself "backseat driving" from the couch!
It's the classic Mario; a blast from the past. He jumps up and bashes boxes, hops on turtles, and catches flying coins. But there is a little twist in this game that makes it even better than the origional. He can flip between 2D and 3D, making your perspective look different. Thus showing you secret passways and revealing tunnels to get you through when you really thought all hope was lost. But make sure your not in the 3D for too long, or you will loose life. (Approx any longer than 30 seconds)
I would hands down reccomend this game to anyone looking for something fun and out of the ordinary "shoot 'em up" games. Excellant for children (in my opinion ages 5 and up) and adults as well.
Have fun!
- I am so glad we decided to buy the Wii. This game is is one of those reasons. It is like the old Super Marios, but it is more involved and is a blast to sit and play. My kids can play because it isn't to hard, but they still have to figure out how to do certain things to advance, so it keeps them interested. Great game.
- No matter how many times I play Mario, it never ceases to amaze me. Played this with some friends and we couldn't stop laughing at it's silliness yet awesome fun factor. Recommended for all ages.
- This game is a lot of fun. I like how you can switch from 2D to 3D. It's good for all ages. The only thing I don't like is all of the talking. The beginning is especially wordy. Overall I find it entertaining. Another great Mario game. :)
- Better than the last game!
- I got Super Paper Mario about a week ago. I couldn't wait for it to come. I was hoping the game would be just as great as the last one. So when it came I started playing nonstop for 8 hours. I was wrong - Super Paper Mario is better than the Thousand Year Door.
The first thing I noticed about the game was the better graphics. In the last game everything seemed a bit dark and gloomy. But in SPM, the screen looked happier and brighter. Even though it is unrealistic to have a clean, peaceful city in a sea of chaos, it still makes the game look better.
The second thing I noticed was the music. It is considerably better than in the Thousand Year Door. It is more upbeat and is composed of better sound effects so you don't have to listed to gay "boing" sounds during the last level.
Now the storyline. Everybody is sent to the evil Count Bleck's dungeon except Mario, who is awoken by a Pixl named Tippi. Mario is then flipped to Flipside, the dimension between worlds, and meets Merlon, who tells Mario to basically stop the destruction of all worlds. And to do this he will need to collect the 8 pieces of the purity heart and eliminate Bleck and the Chaos Heart.
The next thing I noticed was the excessive amount of talking. Even though I was mindlessly hitting 2, I wondered what they were talking about. But the good part in this was that it didn't matter what they were saying, it all meant nothing.
The big thing in the game is the ability to switch from 2-D to 3-D. See a huge spiked ball coming down a cliff? See 1000 thwomps, well, thwomping the room? Then FLIP!
After a few hours of playing, I had met quite a few more Pixls. And boy do they kick butt! You can throw stuff, bomb enemies, avoid attacks, stomp on things, and even ride over those cursed spikes and a lot more! It is always great to see a new Pixl because you never know what to expect. Another thing that was very unusual was the YOU GET TO PLAY AS BOWSER 24/7! AWESOME! You also get to play as Peach and Luigi. They're useless though.
- This 47 yr old father loves this game
- My 7 yr old and I play this a lot together. It's a difficult game, but not too hard. It's really engrossing. Totally our favorite game on the Wii.
People complain about the story being slow, and I tend to agree. However, it's not too bad, and there are so many other things which are fun about the game.
- I am a Super Mario fan ever since Super Mario Bros came out and I'm always looking for something to come close to play. I have a Wii and an N64 system (used to have Gamecube but don't need it with the Wii). I bought Super Paper Mario because I needed something to play but nothing new was available (Galaxy wasn't out yet). I thought it looked dumb and was thinking twice before I opened it. I hated the ongoing dialogue and the neverending name calling between players but once I got to playing I was addicted. I like to play games that make me want to play for hours and then leave me wanting more once I quit playing and this one does that. This game has lots of secrets and endless hours of play. I gave it a 5 because I don't think the dialogue and the sarcastic remarks take a star away from it. Now I just wish Nintendo would come out with a Banjo Kazooie 3.

- You call THIS an RPG? This game is... truly disappointing if you are a fan of Paper Mario. It has no turn-based function what-so-ever! And Mario can't go in all directions unless flipped into 3D! This game isn't even worth renting. Waste of Money.
- i have bought new system the box was not Seal completely, when i open that the part of like opend. then i fould the white pack for the wii romote, but not romote.
- Mario sets out on his most boring review. To much talking and not enough action. Very few rpg elements that used to be present. Oversimplified gameplay that children wouldn't enjoy because of the huge amount of text.
- I thought this would be like old school Mario. It's cute but I just don't get it. The pace is very slow, kind of boring. Going through lots of doors. Not for me, I guess I have a short attention span!
- Like some real rpg paper Mario fans. we expected an rpg, not a side scrolling Mario bros game with bowser as a playable character. this is a terrible let down. But the n again its not the worst game its not for rpg fans like me its for little kids and those who enjoy Mario bros a whole lot. My friend brought and I thought it was going to be one of those long and good adventure rpgs like the first and second one. I say if you have a little extra money why not buy it or rent it before you buy it to see if you like it. For those who want the original lets hope nintendo makes a better 4th one, or settle for this.
- Paper mario??? DIE MARIO DIE!!!!
- Anyone with a Wii has to be sick of every game on the console being a Mario, Wario, paper mario, playdouch mario, toilet paper mario or mario party. My god!!!! Why buy a system to play only predictable, rehashed, mario games for 10 years ago.
- Dissapointed to say the least.
- This has to be the worse Mario game ever. I love Mario games and this was very dissapointing. First you have to click and read through 10 minutes of back and forth messages. Then you have to read crap like every other minute. The game itself is also dum. I would say it is for a 3 year old but they would not be able to read it. It is really dumb. Sorry I wasted my money on it. On ebay it goes after the boycott.
- Don't buy this game. Too much BS reading. I bought this for my 11 years old son and he didn't like it. He got stuck after crossing the first bridge. The game is now sitting there collecting dust!
- i played the first two paper marios and i loved them. I beat the second one 3 times. So when the third paper mario came out i thought it would be the same as the other two except with a different story. I was wrong. The thing i loved about the first two was that there was a battle screen and part of the game was about getting mario better in battle. In the third one there is no battle screen and it is like super mario. I would have been okay with the game if there was a battle screen but there wasnt. So if youre looking for something like the 1st or 2nd paper mario DONT BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Compared to Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, this game stinks! The battles are worse, the plot is worse, your party is worse, and the bosses stink! If you have any sense at all buy Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, It's one hundred times better!

- I can fully see how Super Paper Mario charms so many people, but for me personally, the bad outweighs the good. I wish it were otherwise, but there's no accounting for taste. So here's my humble review.
The graphics are colorful and inventive, but no more so than you'd see in a regular Gamecube title. I like how the Wii remote is used sideways like a regular controller... that was cool. And the dialogue is so funny sometimes... but sadly, after a while it became the only real source of entertainment that I got out of the game. I'm a super-fast reader, so the amount of it didn't faze me... although I could have done without some of the more useless explanations and tidbits of information.
The one big thing that takes the cake for me in this game is: it's boring and tedious. It seriously takes out of the replay value for me, which is unfortunate, since I paid $50 for it straight up, at the store. The elevator music soundtrack and dragging gameplay is a good way to relax if you want to think about nothing important and just space out, though. And you get to look at pretty scenery while you're at it, too.
Maybe after I'm done with the game, I'll draw some Mr. L fan art. Along with Count Bleck, he (and Luigi, I guess, by default) is the coolest character.

- Mario's english, not so good
- I know I'll get death threats for this, and possibly a visit from a Donkey Kong hitman, but I thought this game was only so-so. It has the typical cheesy, shallow story line, which I'd be fine with, except for inconsistencies and an apparently poor translation at times. The level designs are fun, and the flip in dimensions is innovative and useful. Making the game play for the most part quite fun.
My one major complaint is switching the pixels. As much fun as some of the powers are, the play mechanics to switch between them will suck you right out of the game. To have to frequently jump into the menu system make a couple selections and switch your pixel is a real drag. I'm perplexed that they didn't treat them like swapping out guns in a FPS, which would have made much more sense, especially considering how essential they are for normal game play.
Otherwise, I believe I would have found enjoyment through the entire game, instead of
- I am going to say the pros and cons of the game.
Pros: 1. It is a very fun game
2. The character's abilities and pixls are fun to use.
Cons: 1. WAY TOO EASY!!
2. After you beat the game, there is basicly nothing to do.
Overall a 3. I recommend renting, not buying the game.

- Lots of fun, but too much talking!
- I want to start by saying I really enjoy playing this game. It's lots of fun with its different levels and tasks. There's plenty to do, and while it's not easy, it's not overwhelmingly difficult. I did finally break down and buy the guide, but I only use it when absolutely stumped. Despite its cartoonish appearance, this game is probably not good for really young kids (under 8 or so depending on gaming exp) because it is rather tricky sometimes. Personally, I find it just challenging enough to keep my interest, but not so hard that I want to quit (and I'm 24).
Now, that said, as much as I enjoy the game, the amount of dialogue drives me crazy! Everyone you meet wants to talktalktalk about stuff. Yes, a lot of it is important to the plot and gameplay, but not all of it. Also, you can't really make it go faster, so you just have to sit through it. I can understand that this would turn a lot of people off to this game, but I enjoy the game enough that I'm willing to put up with it.
If you're unsure if you are willing to deal with the talking, I suggest renting it first (the only reason I bought it before trying it was it was on major sale here on Amazon).
