- Avante Deluxe 4-Slice Toaster - Black. High-Speed, bagel, reheat, cancel, brushed stainless steel top.

- I was hesitant to believe the mostly perfect ratings this toaster has been getting, but after owning this for three weeks I agree. Well worth the extra money for quality. Buy it!!
- You'll need some room for this one!
- As other reviewers have stated, this is a very large toaster, but it does toast wonderfully making it worth the space it takes up. It does a better job than any I've had so far. The crumb trays are easily removed for clean up, and it is well made. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
- I bought this toaster for our office whose main complaint was the slowness of our old toaster. Everyone here loves this new one - it looks good and toasts fast! It is a little large but we love it! I would strongly recommend this to anyone.
- I am not the type to gush about household appliances, especially a toaster. After all, the mandate in toaster production is quite simple, manufacture a machine that makes toast. Well, this initial naivete has been long since dispelled after the purchase of over a dozen toasters, none of which did the thing they are supposed to do - make toast.
All of that changed with the purchase of this toaster. What a well engineered piece of equipment that does perfectly what it is supposed to do - make toast. Don't look any further, if you're looking for a machine that does its job well, this is it.
- This toaster is great. I use it everyday. Everyone who sees it, wants to use it, and then they want one for themselves. I love the clean up also. Just the little trays in the back. The toast comes out perfect. I have great control on lightly to darkly toasting any type of breads.
- Besides the unique shape that fits into the spot chosen.this toaster is more than we could have hoped for in a toaster.
- This Avante 4-slice toaster is well worth the money. The counter size is just right. The toaster is slanted and with the lift out feature no burned fingers.
- A good product. Easy to use and clean. Produces reproducible results time after time. Easily adapts to different type/sizes of bread, rolls, and bagels. Highly recommended.
- I have been searching for the "perfect" toaster, as we own a bed and breakfast. I was happy with the reviews I read on this one and everyone was true. I love the design and also being able to "pop" out the toast without burning fingers. It's also very attractive on the counter. I am very pleased with my purchase!
- We recently purchased the T-Fal Avante four slice toaster after searching many different brands. I selected the T-Fal as the style was different since the toast is easy to see while preparing. I get a lot of compliments on the design. The bagel function toasts bagels to perfection. Construction is good quality not tinny as many models are. This toaster is able to handle wide toast securely so it toasts evenly. The release button brings the toast to the top without having to dig into the toaster. The toaster is somewhat large if you have small counter space, but I feel it is worth the size.

- I WAS DUPED INTO PURCHASING THIS TOASTER BY THE HIGH GOLD STAR RATINGS. IT HAS TURNED OUT TO BE A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT. I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT SEVERAL OTHER COMMENTERS HAVE MENTIONED, I.E., SLOTS TOO SHORT; UNEVEN TOASTING, ETC. I, TOO, HAVE HAD TO TAKE THE BREAD OUT OF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE TOASTER AND TURN IT OVER TO TRY AND GET A MORE EVEN PRODUCT. AS OTHERS STATED, THE HEATING ELEMENTS APPEAR NOT TO BE TURNING RED IN SUBSTANTIAL AREAS. I WILL GRANT THAT THE BAGEL FUNCTION WORKS WELL, BUT I DONT CARE TO BE LIMITED TO TOASTING BAGELS!! UNFORTUNATELY I GAVE THE PRODUCT THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT AND KEPT TRYING TO FIND THE RIGHT COMBINATION TO GET THINGS RIGHT. AS A RESULT I KEPT IT BEYOND AMAZONS RETURN PERIOD AND COULD NOT RETURN IT.
T-FAL WAS NO HELP AT ALL, ONLY TELLING ME TO TAKE OR SHIP THE PRODUCT TO A SERVICE CENTER 50 MILES AWAY. SHIPPING OR TRANSPORTING IT WOULD ADD ADDITIONAL COSTS AND POSSIBLY NOT RESULT IN IMPROVEMENT, SO I AM CONTRIBUTING IT TO THE TRASH COLLECTOR AND WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER T-FAL PRODUCT.
- ... but I returned it. Every manufacturer of toasters specify how 'wide' the slots are for toasting bagels, muffins, etc. But, they rarely specify how 'long' the slots are. The first thing I tried was a slice of "Levy's Real Jewish Rye". It wouldn't fit lengthwise. Failing that basic test, I packed it up and sent it back without trying to toast anything. If I can't fit bread into it, it's simply not worth having.
- I bought this toaster after reading the good reviews. It seemed to be one of the most liked toasters. As luck has it, I ended up with one that toasted unevenly --- the toast was very dark on one side and barely toasted on the other. I returned it for a refund.
- Terrible product, lousy customer service
- The inside burners in each toaster slot died within the first 30 days. TFal was largely unhelpful when I contacted them about it. Bad product + bad service = no more business from me
- Really wanted the 5-star one
- I had done so much research on toasters that my husband started making fun of me. Based on the stellar reviews, I was happy to finally settle on the T-Fal, but unfortunately I had the same experience as S. Sherman and Pat "Pretty Old Dolly" - uneven toasting, one-sided toasting, where's the high speed?, etc. I really think it's just a luck of the draw with the individual toaster you receive and so I am in the process of receiving a replacement. Also I DO believe in second chances with some things, so am hoping for better results the next time. UPDATE: No such luck -- same problems with the second toaster (see my photos on this product's main page). The left side of toaster was not too bad; however, as you can see from the photos, there is a definite malfunction here with the right side of the toaster (bottom row of toast). Who wants to be flipping bread all morning in a busy household of five? Not me! Also, while the bread was "down," I stepped away and when the toast popped up, one of the pieces literally FLEW out of the toaster and plopped onto the floor. One disadvantage I guess of those angled slots. Too bad I don't have a dog (or a so-clean-you-can-eat-off-of-it-floor), right? So, it's another return and I'm off to Walmart for a GE 4-slicer recommended to me by my BFF, Susan. I even tried it out at her house. Thanks, Susan.
- I have returned the item, as it did not work properly; toast was done unevenly, and settings did not work at all. Sometimes a lower setting would result in dark toast, and a higher one with too light toast. Considering the price, it was quite a disappointment.
- Great Looking Toaster But Not Great Toast!
- I loved the slanted top of this toaster. It's large, rather tall but you wouldn't need to cover up this one. The extra lift handles work well on short bread. The bad news is - I toasted several pieces of Italion short thick bread. One piece always did not toast on one side and was quite white. When I turned up the level from about 3 1/2, it wanted to burn the other side.
Looking at the wires, I can see an uneven heat or glo from some. It just doesn't toast well. Looks like the electric wires are not heating the same on both sides. My 10 year old toaster elements were fine but it didn't have the lift handles and I was constantly trying to pick out the toast. Ouch! hot! I bought another brand locally, a Cuisinart. Same thing, Both toasters are Made in China. Hmmm - Wonder if we need to do some manufacturing in the USA again.
- My Sample Extremely Flawed
- My last toaster was a Presto with a single very long and wide slot. Cool to the touch. Toasted evenly. Didn't take up much space. Lasted over 25 years.
If my sample of this toaster is any guide....perhaps it is not...toasters have regressed, not improved.
First what I like. Four slots are handy, and it has a feature that perhaps
all toasters have nowadays....ya can't push down the toasting lever if the toaster is not plugged in. (a mistake I made now and then with the Presto). And personally I like the industrial look.
A word of caution. It is pretty bulky for a toaster....pay attention to the measurements. Parts of the exterior get hot. No need to touch those parts, but be careful. And as another reviewer mentioned, while the slots are wide they are also very shallow. No deeper than a standard piece of packaged bread. If you have an elongated piece to toast, either store bought or home made, you are going to have to cut it in half.
Now that very limited depth would knock it down to 3 starts for me....what sent it to two was the way mine toasts. VERY unevenly, and that is true of all four slots. To the point where for one side of a simple piece of bread to get crisp but untanned the other side gets very brown.
I do not know if I just received a bad sample, or if that is some deliberate and popular style of toasting nowadays. But I don't like it.
Should have returned it but it arrived at a very busy time and it just didn't seem worth the hassle. May donate it to the Purple Heart fairly soon and look elsewhere.
PS just read dozens of amazon reviews for many different brands of toaster....
Virtually all of them work fine for some people, very unevenly for others. WHY IN THE WORLD is it so hard to find a good basic, consistently good toaster nowadays??? Since they all work well for some, I can only assume component quality control is horrendously erratic in the industry and within each model.
- After owning a T-Fal toaster and after reading most of the great reviews for this T-Fal toaster, I went ahead and ordered the 4-slice toaster. I was very disappointed in that it toasted well on one side and not the other. I find this common with many brands of toasters. I have returned the new T-Fal toaster. It might have just been my luck of the draw. In this day and age you'd think someone could produce an almost perfect toaster.
- I have owned this T-Fal model for over 2 years and decided to finally replace it with one that works better. From day 1 the problem has been exactly the same as everyone else has stated, and not only for this model, but it seems for every brand and model I've checked via these opinions. It WILL NOT toast evenly, and is very slow. The darkness control shows settings of 1 thru 5, but in fact the 1 setting means warm bread while the 5 setting will give you light to medium brown toast, but even then, only sometimes. Other than raw or partially toasted bread the darkness control has no effect on the end result.
A toaster must be the least possible technical product on the market, a wire which heats up, and a timer to set how long it heats up. Why this can't be done consistently is beyond me (truly). Since all negative comments reflect these same 2 problems, I am inclined to believe one of the previous opinion's stating its just luck if you get one that consistly gives you a true range of toast settings in a timely fashion.
This seems to be a product where price has no effect on quality and I still don't no what to buy. Possibly the least expensive 2 slice toaster and if it works properly buy a second one.

- I've had my new toaster for about a month so far. My only complaint about it is the length of the cord. It's pretty short which limited where I could put it on my counter. I have no problem with the toasting aspect of it. It has a nice feature that allows you to pop the bread out a little further if the bread is small.
I would recommend it to someone looking for a toaster. Oh, by the way, it is on the larger side so if counter space is a problem, you might want to think twice about it.
- It is a bit of an SUV amongst toasters and takes a good amount of counter space. In a world full of lot-filling MacMansions and SUVs - both of which I abhor - it fits right in, but in a normal kitchen it looks silly large, especially if you use it only once a week.
It does the job well, although one side works better than the other, and I had to wiggle one of the moving racks a bit before it opened and closed properly, though not convincingly for'ever', so I keep an eye on that rack every time I use it.

- I agree that this is the BEST toaster I've ever owned. It toasts evenly and really FAST (great for busy mornings!). My kids love it because they can use it at the same time but since it has different controls, one can use the light setting and the other the dark one. It functions and looks like a commercial toaster; I would not recommend it for a small kitchen, though. Overall, a great value!
